The fundamental difference imo morty was incompetent.......... or maybe even morally corrupt officials.

Nothing has changed since we were last in the top flight the officials were bad then and you get the feeling teams like Norwich have to play against the refs as well. CP had a game plan park the bus and when they get the chance score, if they had come to attack us right from the kick off it would have been a different game and to me that's how the game should be played.

Lets hope lessons were learnt yesterday and it's plain to see where we need to strengthen the squad.OTBC

The return of Olsson and the inclusion of Wisdom will make the defence better although I agree we need another good quality centre half. I thought Dorrans had a very good first half but we are currently too easy to defend against and that needs sorting.

Either of them could have been MOTM.

But there's not a better all round footballer at the club than Howson.

not seen the game so unable to comment about motm match but was interesting to see that the times today was critical of the defensive contributions of bj and howson in tracking palaces wide men in particular (bring to attention as it was an unusual level of detail in reports  from our matches)

I think we have to learn that Howsons best position is central as a box to box, mainly attacking central midfielder and learn to use his as such.   Just because he is the best all round player we have doesnt mean we should try to use that in playing him in an less optimal position, such as as the widest player,   it is his natural tendency to come narrower hence the times feedback.

I agree. Playing wide right isn't really his game. But that said, and as mentioned above, along with Hoolahan he was still our best player over the course of 90 minutes.

Dermot Gallagher discussing the Cameron Jerome disallowed goal on SSN now, Dermot thinks the ref got it totally wrong.

I've yet to see anyone claim that the ref got that decision right (Jerome's goal),that says a lot.

Maybe so, but didn't think he done Whittaker too many favours, offered him little cover at times.

I didn't see the game so won't comment on the match itself but having seen the controversial moments I feel I can contribute.

I have been saying it for many seasons now that I believe the good standard of refereeing has diminished since they became full time totally professional.

In essence they are not going to make decisions other than ones protecting what they have which is now a very lucrative profession.

When they were just on a fee per match, it was not their main income and that is why we had schoolteachers and bobbies etc refereeing world cup finals.

To be honest, our refs are just not good enough anymore. And any more decisions like the one that denied a potential GOTS by a wonderful athlete will kill the game.

It's gut-wrenching but if there is a silver lining it's that every referee knows we were hard done by which may have some small influence on their subconscious decision-making in the games to come.
