Impossible not to love Alex Neil when you things like this and even more importantly, it's impossible not to be hugely impressed.

This is what I want to hear.  All solid comments, absolutely spot on.  Not bigging up the opposition but nothing to denigrate them which they could use for motivation either.

Really glad to have BJ back.  Having watched us without him at both Bolton and Leeds, I was struck by the number of occastions when we are attacking that the ball comes back towards the front part of the box so it's no coincidence he's got so many goals from that area and that's where both goals came on Tuesday, BJ is just better at finishing from there than anyone else we have.

Everything crossed for tomorrow evening then.

the word  'hooge'  has never been so accurate.   But with Watford winning by 2 goals tonight, and playing Birmingham at home on saturday, I genuinely now think that if we win all of our remaining games we will still finish third

I have a horrible feeling that our only hope will be needing to beat fulham by 3 or 4 goals, and they just scrap out a 2-0 and we miss out by 1 goal. And the disappointment and pain from that will hinder our hopes in the play offs

As you can tell I'm a glass half full kinda guy  ;)
Any chance we can get Turner playing in that game for Fulham to score a few own-goals?

What if, and bear with me here, Bournemouth stuff it up, and its us and Watford that go up?

Bournemouth have Sheff Wed, Bolton and Charlton to play, the last being away on the final day.

None of those games are bankers.
Charlton have had some pretty good form recently too. Though will they care on the last day with nothing to play for. Man City didnt remember  ;)

Did you ever think you would be saying that just a year ago?
Yeah, it would be interesting to know how he's worked on his shooting this year !

I'm tempted to say that it was arguably true this time last year as well in that there was no one better ! - look at BJ's goal against the scum, could anyone in our team have scored that this time last year ?  probably unfair to Jonny Howson though.  Hooper could've but he'd lost his finishing touch by the end of the season too, like all our strikers under Hughton.

They nearly went out of business in 1986, so maybe something to do with that.
In 1986 Middlesborough went into liquidation, and a new holding company was formed (they were lucky to survive, only managing to complete their registration for the 86/87 season with 10 minutes to spare).

I just read somewhere that Alex Neil has had the best start of any manager in our entire history!

Very encouraged by Karanka's press conference. Totally conflicted messages. On the one hand he and the players are "Very, very confident", on the other City are "a Premier League team" and Boro have "created a minor miracle to be where they are".

Having managed and had to speak to reporters every week I would read that as "I know we choke away in big games but  I'm going to talk it up and hope that we turn up this time"

In terms of psychological advantage though..... they did beat us 4-0 last time.

I'm pinning my hopes on them being a little over-confident due to that.

I don't think it is even an issue, as Alex said "We're a totally different animal now, compared to then"

He just fills me with confidence every time he speaks. I've been pretty sceptical all week about whether we'll win this, but after watching that I feel as if we win it. Genuinely has boosted my confidence so imagine what he does for the players.
