Would be happy with Manning, would be surprised if we got him though

Tricky one this. His record is very mixed and he might just have hit a lucky run to get BC into play offs. O'Neil better but style more like Dean Smith. Cooper better still but probably won't come. Glad I am not choosing but then I would have been loyal to Wagner for longer.

Hope he isn't a talk the talk man. Failed as a number 1 at Salzburg. Most number 2s don't make it on their own. Rather have O'Neill.

Official approach tomorrow apparently. Compensation £800,000.

An uninspiring kind of appointment in some ways but he is relatively safe, has experience, has a decent record too and also develops younger players. Norwich born of course (like the best of us!) and I think he will have a hunger to do well and prove himself. He has all of the pre season and transfer window too. And a budget this year as we all expect and as Knapper has hinted.

Maybe we can get a group together that can be more consistent next season, with a start on the defence. In terms of the latter we need to shut out teams more often if we are going to be successful.

This ticks my boxes of a proper Championship manager that knows the league. There will be no "getting to know it", no bedding in, no excuses that he is new to English football.

I think this signals that the board are through with experiments and gambles.

Let's hope so. Wouldn't have been my choice but what do I know. Hope last season at BC wasn't flash in the pan but they did outplay us and he out thought JHT.

Gives him a good summer to consult with Knapper and rebalance the squad without a few stars but with good fees to bring in some Championship hardened pros.

I'm waiting to see and listen carefully to his first interview (or no doubt we'll see the usual video?). I like to observe a new manager, look closely at the non verbal communication too. It was watching Thorup's first interview that gave me some big worries (though he went on early season to do far better than I expected) and hence gave me my feeling of a mid table final position. Something didn't stack up somehow. Watch again with the sound off and you can just sense the uncertainty. Not quite a rabbit caught in the headlights but getting that way.

I've done this for at least 20 years (thinking Worthington (that he was a builder of something),Lambert and especially Farke, would do well. Wagner was an odd one I couldn't call. Neil exuded a strong self of self and you sensed it was genuine. Roeder, Gunn and Smith underwhelmed me I remember in their first interviews). A weird way of getting your expectations set but there you go! I'm sure others might do something similar? I wonder how Manning will come across. I've deliberately avoided seeing him talk because I want to see him under the club crest and the marketing department's cameras because how he comes across will more than likely transfer to his players.

Anyone else do this kind of thing or am I mad for doing so?

I thought so!
No harm in asking.
For me the best managers just have a quality about them. But maybe just an old fashioned way of looking at such things I admit. Or old school. And I don't mind.
The way they carry themselves it’s important. If we can see from an interview they look unsure of themselves then how are they going to control 20 young lads in a dressing room?
We’re all human, and we’ve all had bosses we follow and others not so much, footballers are no different
