Rvw Signs For St Etienne

"Potentially" the best striker in the Championship.

If we held onto him, there is also a risk he doesn't adapt and has a season like the one just gone. Meaning we've held onto a striker that has not only cost loads in wages, but had a negative impact on the season. That could end up being more expensive.

I think we've taken the less risky option by getting in proven Championship strikers to replace an unknown quantity that will cost us loads in wages.

I think it is the best we could hope for to help the ultimate goal of this season.
It is of course a risk. But then almost everything in football, especially signings, is a risk.

I try to look at it like this, if Norwich had just arranged the signing of Ricky from say WBA after a poor season in the Premier League, how would you feel? Personally I'd be delighted that the club have brought in a striker who has scored in the Champions League and been selected for Holland.

So to let him go, for £1.25m, is disappointing.

Of course, Norwich might not need him to get promoted, but if Grabban fails to reproduce his one decent goal scoring season, Norwich may find they need to bring another striker in whilst a striker they own is scoring goals for someone else.

I'm gutted, strangely enough i was quite cold to when Holt left, this feels worse for me.... How can that be?  Is it the difference between selling a player who was clearly on the way out compared to one who had yet to fulfil his potential maybe?

Just seen his tweets from last night.  Respect to the lad left with a lot of class and doesn't see it as goodbye.

Whilst i'm sure he's a decent bloke - he was hardly going to post a picture of him burning an NCFC shirt, was he?

He might score 10 goals next season, St Etienne not want to splash 6 mill and come back to us - bit awkward if he lashed out at the club prematurely wouldn't it?

Oh, I don't know. Wes managed to flash a metaphorical moon to every City fan at Villa park and is now being lauded as a living god by many.

Yes, but different scenario. Primarily because of Hoolahan's past with us and what he's given us over the years. Makes it a lot easier for fans opinion to sway back in favour of the player if he's been an exciting, influential player for years and only cost £450k as opposed to a striker who looked massively out of place for one season and cost 8 and a half!

It's good that Norwich fans have been so nice to him but I agree with the above. We got totally screwed on this transfer - another Hughton legacy. He's a good poacher against second rate opposition but is totally unsuited to English football. I'll always remember him for this:

When we needed quality that's what he gave us.
Yeah, well at this point he was a player totally bereft of confidence. Look at the way his soldiers slumped the moment he realised what he'd done. He needs to get away from Carrow Road and refind his mojo away from the pressure of being the 'club record signing' as the Pinkun likes to remind us every time his name is used.  Interesting parting comments on Twitter from him. If things go well in France, I wouldn't be overly surprised to see him back in yellow and green.
