So we have Hooper, Hoolahan, Redmond and Jerome on the pitch, can't say we aren't going for it!

I'm bloody angry.

Had a perfectly good goal disallowed and a clear cut penalty denied.

Welcome back to the Prem.

That ref is a disgrace. First game in the Prem and should be his last. Blatant penalty and pathetic decision on Jerome's goal.

If we get rid of the defensive howlers and play like that going forward, we should do all right.

Think his linesman let him down for the Jerome goal, but even Ruddy at the other end of the pitch could see that was a penalty.

Well that had a feeling of Fulham away on the last day about it. Quite simply that was an awful refereeing performance. Lost my initial post trying to insert a pic after the upload URL feature didnt work so trying to recapture my rant. How on earth a goalscoring strike is disallowed for a foot-up I will never know. Can anyone think of any other examples because I cant. The Bassong incident is the most blatant push you are ever going to see. They could arguably have had Murray sent off in the opening minutes for a dangerous tackle as well. New referee to the Premiership and it showed.

Does anyone remember this disallowed goal?  No me neither

Or this goal by Peter Crouch against Galatasaray in the 2006/7 Champions League - voted in the top 10 greatest goals by UEFA. Shame it was disallowed. Oh wait...

Pissed off is an understatement, I didn't think we actually played too bad, decent amounts of possession for a good amount of the game. We could have snatched at least a point or even won if it wasn't for the referee's and lineos performances. There is obviously a weakness with out defence however, a clear weakness that better teams will tear us apart using, needs to be sorted asap. Onwards and upwards though, there are plenty worse teams than palace in this division!

Hard done by but still let 3 in at home. Are we going to have the bottle to sign a quality cb and drop the captain?

Can't see it.

Upside is:

  • Norwich have failed to win any of their last 12 opening weekend fixtures, losing six and and drawing six.
  • Palace have only lost two of their last seven visits to Carrow Road, winning three of their last five.
So par for the course. We never do well on opening day and with a different ref and more concentration we would have won that day. No reason to panic just yet. Just back to that familiar feeling of getting screwed over. Most football fans will simply see the scoreline and draw their own conclusions. We know the reality of our performance today. Worthy of a draw if not for some terrible decisions and could even have won it. In terms of things to make us feel better - think back to Snoddy's stolen penalty - we might not have converted the penalty anyway!

Dont know why my post with Rooney's much lauded (yet clearly - obviously - illegal) goal against Man City has disappeared. Think I've reached the upload limit and its consequently diasppeared

From the BBC website:

Former Norwich striker Chris Sutton on BBC Final Score: "The disallowed goal is the worst decision you will see all season - on the opening day.

"If Palace had scored it I would have been saying the same. It was a wonderful finish. It's ridiculous. All he did was hook it over his shoulder.

"Norwich have learned a lesson today. They missed two big chances, especially one for Lewis Grabban, before Palace scored.

"Last time they were in the Premier League they didn't score enough goals and that would be a worry again this season."

Ref watch: Simon Hooper will be under the spotlight not only for his decision to disallow Jerome's effort, but also for opting to not issue a card to Palace striker Glenn Murray for a lunge on Graham Dorrans in the first 10 minutes.

Norwich manager Alex Neil: "We started very well. We needed to get a goal while on top, but that's what happens at this level.

"I thought in the main, our use of the ball was good. We controlled most of the game, but it is a lesson."

Palace boss Alan Pardew: "After about five minutes I realised I'd picked the wrong team today. Norwich were brilliant for the first 20 minutes.

"We got a bit too comfortable at 2-0 and sat too deep. We should have done better with their goal."

No mention of the Bassong should-be penalty though

McNally: 'can't miss chances like that, striking problems will be sorted on Monday' says source in Gunn Club. @NorwichCityFSC #canarycall

Interesting... am I the only one more worried about the defence after today?
You take your chances and it completely changes the game. We start well, have the opportunity of taking the lead but our lone striker fluffs it. That's more urgent IMO.

Having said that if we'd started with Jerome who knows what would have happened? I think he could get 15 goals given the chance.
