On the grounds that Martin is the captain and a centre back this season and that Cuellar can play right back and may be needed at right back, I would like to see this team start.

                   Rudd

Cuellar Martin Gaifaiti  Whittaker

E. Bennett O'Neill Surman Murphy

               Loza Jerome

The other question is about Becchio and Bassong and whether this could be a shop window for them.   If they feature I believe that would be the reason, but If so I would rather the players who are likely to feature in the championship would start the match.

Given that Cuellar lacks full match fitness, LDC, he's more likely to play at CB than RB, IMO. Martin prefers CB, but he'll still play at RB when needed.

I'd feel very uneasy playing a natural CB at RB while we're playing a natural RB at CB.

Crawley manager, John Gregory in the local Sussex paper. Not too exciting but a few nice comments about Norwich.

http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/crawleynews/11431556.Crawley_boss_has_fond_memories_of_Carrow_Road/

I haven't seen Crawley yet this season but some friends and family are season-ticket holders so a bit of information about our opposition.

Crawley's squad changed almost entirely in the summer and it's fair to think that if the team stays in League One again this season it will be Crawley's best achievement so far in their short time in the Football League. Many of last season's squad were out of contract last summer and opted to move on after being offered new deals on significantly lower pay. The club appear to have cut costs wherever possible to try and exist within the constraints of home crowds which unfortunately have never taken off to the level that was hoped for when Crawley made the League. The rise out of non-league was built upon financial backing from a group led by the late Bruce Winfield (a lifelong Crawley fan) and it was hoped that when the team reached the league it would inspire the town to get behind the club and so the club would grow to become sustainable in time. Gates have risen gradually so progress has been there but it's fair to say they are nowhere near the level needed to support a League One side, hence a lot of changes recently. In my view, if Crawley can build a long-term future as a well run League 2 club that would still be a very good place to be, but for the present they continue to punch quite a bit above their weight in League One. I think most fans are enjoying the current status while Crawley have it and the chance to play teams like Wolves last season, Sheffield United etc in league games which is unbelievable compared to playing Trowbridge, Baldock and Atherstone, games I remember going to as a kid!

On the squad, it is a very small squad now comprising probably a 1st XI that has had a good go at the opening weeks of the season. The good results so far have all been built on an impressive defence led by Brian Jensen (the Danish ex-Burnley keeper who has been Crawley's best signing) and Joe Walsh, a highly-rated Welsh U21 defender who has been linked with Championship clubs and is out of contract at the end of the season. Walsh is possibly Crawley's final saleable asset so speculation continues about whether he'll be around for the whole season. In attack, Izale McLeod has scored three goals so far and is Crawley's main striker. Only McLeod and Walsh have scored for Crawley so far as all the wins have been 1-0. The midfield has been seen as the area in need of most strengthening as with Josh Simpson injured, Jimmy Smith is the one experienced head in there. For Norwich fans with a good memory Smith scored the winner for Orient when they won 1-0 at Carrow Road in the FA Cup in 2011. Alongside Smith it is a pick from a group of players age 22 and under. Conor Henderson is the most experienced of these and even he has made less than 10 appearances in the Football League while the brilliantly named Bobson Bawling played well in that position at Sheffield United at the weekend. For all it's shortage of numbers though Crawley look to have a good close knit group who work hard for John Gregory so if they have a good season it will definitely be a case of the team being stronger than the individual parts. If you believe in certain clubs having a giant-killing knack then Crawley's six wins over Championship teams (Derby, Bolton, Bristol City, Ipswich, Hull & Millwall) since 2010 certainly should keep us on our toes to make sure we're not the seventh!

In my view, very much will depend on how strong a line-up Norwich go with tonight. A core of the first XI with some fresh legs and those keen to impress and I think it will be a two or three goal home win. If it's most of the team rested and a performance that is more disjointed then Crawley could be well-organised enough to do a Luton by keeping it tight and nicking one. Overall I think Neil will be quite keen to keep up the good momentum and we should be good enough to get through.

I agree to the extent that people still see Martin as a RB, but that perception  will change the longer he holds down a central position in the first team and is seen to be comfortable there - and 9/12 points does suggest he may stay there.

Adams said - "Carlos brings bags of experience as he's played at the highest level in three countries. He can play as a centre-back and a right-back, and we've brought him here to strengthen the options we have in defence,"  So he will be an option at right back so it would not be a surprise to play him there - especially when Martin is putting his efforts in to being a CB.  It does have some logic, but whichever way round they play would mean that the right side of defence is in good hands, if Whittaker is needed on the left.

Very interesting report on your hometown team Crawley Canary. Gives a much deeper context to the match. Remember John Gregory in his playing days, but his career has fallen away since he managed Villa from 1998-2002.

Rudd

Martin Cuellar Gafaiti Whittaker

O'Neil Surman

E Bennett Loza Murphy

Jerome

Subs: Ruddy, Garrido, Turner, Johnson, Hoolahan, Redmond, Lafferty.

I'd imagine NA will probably play a few more first-team regulars than that, but that's what I'd do.

I actually think we will be surprised by the amount of changes tonight and he won't overly tinker with a whole new 11, I think Adams wants to keep the winning feel good factor and doesn't want to risk losing it by playing all the fringe players.

Rudd, Cuellar, O'Neil, Murphy, Bennett and Jerome, possibly Surman depending on whether he's any closer to signing!

I am actually quite pleased that NA has rested quite a few (ok, a lot) of senior players and given Becchio a seat on the bench,  the priority must be the Bournemouth game.

I suppose it's not the end of the world, and the league is more important, but that's a little too weak for me. Wouldn't be surprised to see us go out.

That's quite a strange lineup, can't work out the formation.

Its a back four of Martin ©, Cuellar, McFadden, Whittaker.

Midfield Jacob Murphy, E Bennett, Surman, Josh Murphy?

So Elliott Bennett in the middle with Surman? That looks like a recipe for disaster, we have a more physical centre midfielder on the bench (Cameron McGeehan).

It could be Whittaker in the middle of the park with Surman at left back.

Rudd, Cuellar, E.Bennett, O'Neill, Surman, Jo Murphy, Loza, Jerome will all probably get a run out. Reckon Matthews, Gafaiti & Ja Murphy will also get in matchday squad.
I know I am old fashioned in my thinking here but why can't we play our best team and hammer these and try and win something? What's the point otherwise?

Where's Gary O'Neil? He needs match time, would have thought he'd have made that midfield looking more sturdy. Failing that, McGeehen is a big strong lad.

Given our horrendous cup record over the last 2 decades I wouldn't be surprised to see us get knocked out with a full strength team. At least this way we get to see how some of our youth players get on.
