What do we do if Maddison is out for a year then, offer Hoolahan a cut price deal to stay for another season? Hope that Cantwell can do a job?

Feels like we're in the shit if we can't sell Maddison.

Don't play a 10. And don't rely on your 10 hitting enough worldies to keep you afloat.

Embarrassing way to end the season, but in all honesty as much as I love this club I haven't been properly enthused by the prospect of watching us for a little while now. Even today I was only half watching, but some of the defending for their goals was completely pathetic.

Enormous summer now ahead of us and I'm actually really looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. Also hoping the injury to Maddison isn't too serious, for various reasons.

Lets continue to the rebuild this summer and go again next season. OTBC!

Just for fun...

Surely to continue the rebuild we'd have to start it first.
I think we have improved in some areas of the pitch, and regressed in others. Its obvious that Farke hasn't got the striker(s) he needs to make this work, yet. The fans won't be so patient next season.

No they won't. But actually I wonder if the stuffing has been knocked out of them a bit. I think there is a fair amount of resignation.

Resignation, or acceptance of the situation? It is what it is, we need to cut costs because there is no white knight on a beautiful charger, riding into here with a big bag of groats.

That said, the reason we have a director of football, and a club philosophy of how we want to play football, is so that we can change the manager, relatively seamlessly, if it isn't working out. Hopefully eliminating the whole process where a new manager demands changes of style and personnel, which all costs money. I don't think Webber will be afraid to call it, and there better be a pretty quick improvement early doors next season, or Herr farke will be gone by Christmas.

It will be an interesting aside to see what the scum do this summer, as I'm assuming a new manager will want money to spend.

Vrancic is a classy operator though. Great range of passing and great awareness. He'd be in my team.

Your man Vrancic was being classy in the City bars Sat and Sun night. With Tettey amongst others Sat and Stieperman? (Always get them muddled) Sunday.

DF said he was tired with a slight groin strain so wouldn't be in squad for Sheffield

The only thing is Morty, within this structure the playing style, coaching style and sports science is all pre defined so in not sure if changing the head coach can do anything more than make a very minor difference.

I'm not sure if it should be Farke under the microscope right now but Webber and Stone.

If the Maddison injury is long term we've managed to get ourselves in the position where Steven Naismith becomes one of our most important players, after losing Pritchard and Hoolahan and not having the money to sign a new number 10 because we desperately need a few other things... not least a striker and a goalkeeper.

Its very concerning.

Then when you look at £2.5m Marcel Franke being worse than Ryan Bennett, who has a Championship winners medal, and us managing to persuade Alex Tettey to stay on with a big pay cut but not attempting the same with his team mate John Ruddy.

'Sink or swim' is probably going to come down to whether Todd Cantwell, Remi Matthews and Ben Godfrey can ALL step up to the plate to replace the outgoing Gunn and Reed, and the injured Maddison. The former two who we probably can't afford to bring in again if the latter can't be sold.

A long term Maddison injury is a complete game changer. If we can't afford to pay off and replace McGovern and Naismith then it means we've got no choice but to pay and use them. We have to pray that Remi Matthews is somewhere near Championship standard for example.

I mean.... Glenn Middleton may have suddenly have become a little bit useful to have around the place? Especially if we end up playing Josh Murphy through the middle and Wildschut on the left, and if we're skint then we may be forced into something like that.

If we announce the season long loan of Ashley Fletcher from Middlesbrough as the Nelson Oliivera replacement... then that's when we know we are in serious trouble.

I wonder whether the club would be in breach of contract if they cancelled the Category 1 thing and used that £5m for the playing budget. Presumably that would open up a big can of worms?
