Surprised he's dropping that far. He hasn't looked that bad in the brief appearances he has made here.
Only an 18 month deal too, would thought someone would have offered him something better, although he is 23 and hardly played any first team football

Seems we’ve signed a 20 year old striker called Dylan Jones from non league (somewhere near Plymouth),for the under age squad; 2.5 year contract with an option for another year. Let’s hope he’s a new version of Vardy or Wright!

Dylan Jones (aka Triallist) scored both goals in a recent U21s game (2-2 draw) v Crystal Palace.
Possibly a promising addition for next season or out on loan?

Apparently we've had a bid accepted for Fernandez but it's stalling because of personal terms, strangely. Also, any deal would likely see him stay at Peterborough on loan for the season.

Linked with McConville, a young centre back from Brighton, on loan. This would probably allow Hills to go out on loan to League One.

I watched an interview with a non-league player, formerly league player, who was discussing League Two & National League wages.

One thing he said is that some players with decent trades etc choose to play for the better off semi-pro sides because their day job + semi-pro football pays better than what they can get from professional sides in the National League or even the poorer teams in League Two.

And that there are a handful of clubs in League Two that can't compete with the average professional National League side on wages, but they still attract players who see them as a bit of a last resort for staying in the league in the hope that somebody else will offer them a decent/liveable league contract.

I've always seen Newport County as one of those clubs (Sutton, Barrow, Harrogate, and maybe even Accrington Stanley and Morecambe more recently).

It was the last club Danny Crow signed for before he dropped into non-league. Tristan Abrahams went there for a couple of years before dropping into non-league also. I think Cameron Norman signed for them too before getting a move to MK Dons (which was as better outcome and I guess what Warner is hoping for).

I think this goes one of two ways now. He impresses and a League One side like Peterborough snap him up swiftly for a couple of hundred grand, or he doesn't stand out and he ends up in non-league like David Stephens (remember him?)

Newport is also a pretty grim town and not somewhere you'd move for lifestyle, I see it as a club of last resort. I hope that works out for him!

Peterborough fans are amazed that we'd bid for Fernandez, and don't seem to want us to loan him back to them for the rest of the season (which is apparently the offer)

"Surely this Norwich link can't be true, if he's going to Norfolk it could be Kings Lynn maybe. He's one of the worst centre halves we've had in my 30 plus years watching Posh"

"Extraordinary. That’s our season saved. He’s not even that young so the buying club must see something we can’t see. Let’s hope they can coach him how to concentrate during a game"

"You couldn't make it up. He should happily take whatever he's being offered, ideally including a one-way ticket"

"A bovril and a pukka pie would be over pricing him, only stick him up front in the last five minutes and hope he ends up on end of something"

"The fact he's been a central component of the worst defence in the league below them and that doesn't ring alarm bells? Staggering"

"It's unbelievable. My heart was always in my mouth every time the ball went near him."

"Can't actually believe they think he'd be part of a championship first team squad, maybe they are planning to play him up front!"

"I mean it says highly rated, so the source must be on crack"

"Unfortunately his 'outstanding physical properties' do not include pace, which would be even more exposed higher up the league spectrum. Granted he is a big unit though. L2 / National league is his lot which is why he is struggling so badly at Posh"

Yeah, slightly concerning.

Considering Adegboyega is apparently doing well in the SPL, is it worth us making a 'huge offer' by Peterborough's standard for Fernandez?

Fernandez hasn’t the quality to play for the Posh , certainly not the championship

Norwich City have confirmed the transfer deadline day signing of Brighton's teenage centre back Ruairi McConville.

Apparently he played against us in the cup game last month! Is that out new scouting method!?

Son just told me he'd signed. Great news on building for the long term with a signing like this. You can see the plan clearly (depends of course if it pays off in a year or two).

As for scouting methods I'm sure it's a great way of selecting talented players. Can recall Hoolahan and Pritchard being signed in similar fashion (as was Butterfield). Some work out, some don't! Depends how players settle.
