So, what do we need?

Sounds like Hanley has been told he can go...

We definitely don't need a defensive midfielder, we've managed for long enough without one....

Tettey, 3 lungs Holt, Zimbo, Grant Holt, Greeno would make a good start

This is assuming we are thinking of players to have an immediate impact to reach the playoffs this season, rather than looking further forward. Based on today's game I would say we need a right sided attacker and a centre forward. Schwartau looks ok but simply wasn't attacking their left back . When Hernandez was finally put in the right position and actually attacked down the right, we got the upper hand. Schwartau was much too easy for them. Same with Crnac really (except we have no decent sub for him).

I would agree. Centre forward and right sided attacking player.

I think McLean, Nunez and Slimane in midfield is pretty decent. Marcondes is good when he's good.

I wouldn't mind a left back really, prefer Doyle at centre back and Chisene still looks very raw.

Might be wishful thinking.

Other than that, I think we need to decide whether Crnac is a right winger or a striker, and sign the opposite.

Gibbs & Sorenson not good enough in my view so a deep lying / defensive midfielder.

That would be my 3 man shopping list.

I've got a sneaky feeling we might see a keeper arrive though, and that Gunn will be off. No idea why, just a hunch.

There was a rumour knocking around that he is stalling on signing a new contract, and fancies a move away to warm a Premiership bench.

I'm sure one of Paddy or Connor mentioned that we are looking for a homegrown keeper.

Not sure we need to replace Hanley if he goes as we have Duffy, Cordoba and Doyle who can play there and we don't need any full backs.

We need to sell Sainz now, invest the money in a decent wide player and a player that can play in the hole as none of our midfield players can be described as "creative". We also need a proper defensive midfielder as again none of our current squad can do that. That means that we should offload at least Sorenson and maybe 1 other, ideally Kenny.

We also need a proper target man, we have no real plan B and Barnes is no longer up to it.

Not surprised. I don't think we saw the best of him. But then he maybe wasn't given the chance.

See they describe him as a winger, but to me, he was more of a wide midfielder, he never really had a huge amount of pace.

I wouldn't have minded him as part of the squad, but maybe this is an indication that we might be quite busy this window.

Always did wonder if he would have been better off tried in the middle as a sort of number ten. Like a Marco Stiepermann sort of role

Could have been a decent shout, he was a good passer. Maybe just a victim of the system we play now.

Agree.

Didn't have the pace to be a winger. Did have a goal in him though.

He was always Wagner's man and as soon as Wagner went I thought the writing was on the wall for Fassnacht. Plus he was successful at Young Boys so doesn't surprise me in the slightest that he'd go back their to enjoy his football.

Always been curious about whether he could be a number 10 though and that wasn't really explored.

That said, now we've got Marcondes no need to have tried it. Pre-Marcondes though I did wonder. Feels like Gibbs has had more of a chance in that position despite having absolutely no track record of being able to create or score goals.
