So does Dobbin play on the right wing like Jurasek. Can't imagine we'll be signing both. Jurasek sounded a good prospect so hope this doesn't mean we've missed out on him.
I would hope that we have multiple targets per position as we’ll struggle to sign all our number 1 choices. I wouldn’t mind both players signing if it leads to competition and strength in depth too

Has there been any mention of a CDM in the offing that I might have missed?
All the talk by the manager seems to have been about our need to boost our attacking options. Yet I would like to see a decent central defender signed (maybe from a lower league?). There are gems out there. Only last year I watched a guy called Conteh (then playing for Grimsby but then got a move to Bristol Rovers). He controlled the midfield and had something about him. There must be many young players like him around. Someone we can invest in for the longer term rather than just loans. At some point we have to replace Kenny!

West Brom fans don't seem to have any nice things to say about Dobbin.

Villa recalled him from WBA as he wasnt playing enough. I hope out loan deal doesn't include minimum playing time or anything. Just in case he's rubbish!

See above RC. My son says he has played as a striker too so perhaps we ARE after both?
Yes thanks that's how I see it. I posted just before I saw your previous post which was helpfully positive compared with what I've been reading elsewhere. I'm presuming Dobbin might be good at "running in behind" which is what Thorup said he wanted from a new striker.

Yes he did say that. It's really difficult I always think for a 21 year old (most of them). You can rarely hit the ground running unless you're really special. My son's friend also watches a lot of games, even youth / academy games and is a fanatic so he knows Dobbin. He is also more likely to be sympathetic to former Everton lads who've come through a system. So we have to take the positivity with a pinch of salt. That said, this fella has played for England at U16, U17 and U19 level and looking him up, he scores goals at that level too. He must have a pedigree. I guess we have to trust the management on this. Marcondes has been excellent but he is a seasoned professional.

Good move for him, would not have called that one!
Same, a bit of a shock!

Sheffield Utd were linked, I wonder whether whether Burnley have just signed him to stop Sheff Utd getting him to be honest, both are on 49 points.

Some may be saying good riddance to Barnes but not me. I fear we will miss him. Vastly experienced, brings a whole different attacking style to our game.. Sure he lost his touch, is old as dirt and cant hit a barn door but I feel we will be worse without him. We also have no natural strikers in the squad now. (Well, in terms of fit players)

Bid from Everton for Nunez rejected apparently. I'm not surprised he has caught people's eye. Really wouldn't want to lose him, he has certainly caught my eye in recent games, his workrate is fantastic.

Probably a joke to be made that he sees no point in joining them just to end up playing in the Championship with them next season when if he stays with us he gets to play in the Championship regardless!

Barnes has freed up some wages.
To be honest, I'm in two minds about this. Barnes absolutely showed his worth in helping us see out the result at Luton, BUT, you have to question how much longer and how often he can do that. Sometimes a player can be worth more to the team than just their wages, and I think if we were to look to replace him, like for like, we may struggle.
