Hope this is not true, as I honestly think he will be great in the championship. Also like most people I am desperate for him to stay and prove everyone wrong!
Without sounding like the "pinkun plonkers" but may I ask where have you heard this? Club connections? people in the know? Sky?

There were some rumours floating around on a facebook group a while back that a player had told a fan that RVW was talking to some French teams. Can't remember who the player was supposed to be.

Well lets hope it does not happen!! I feel as if he wishes to stay and all this is just agent talk! Infact.. I work with a few different nationalities, and the other day I was working with a Portuguese lad who was a Sporting fan! He told me that even though it was a done deal, Ricky's agent was claiming he will not sign for us if relegated! But that was the agents words and not Ricky's!!
But Ricky can want to stay fight for his place and prove his worth.. but if Adams dont want him or rate him then what hope does he have!

Also what are peoples thoughts on a loan? Do you think its so he gets his touch back and confidence so we can flog him the moment his stock rises? If he goes I honestly think that will be the last we see of him!

Heard it on Twitter, via a Dutch news service.
And I heard ages ago that this was always the clubs intention. It makes perfect sense, farm him out somewhere to regain his confidence / raise his stock. At the end of it we either get a more confident striker, or a more salable asset.

I think deep down we have all half expected this to happen. Adams told Hooper that he was his 'main man', and then told the press that he'd done so, signed two strikers, and gave RVW the number 20 shirt.
It was always more likely that he would leave than Hooper, just hope that we now go into the season with Hooper because he is proven in this league.

Ricky going on loan means we must keep Hooper, or we are looking very thin indeed in the striking dept.

It does make sense, but does not mean I have to like it!! Not into talking our boys down, but would IF any of the strikers had to be offloaded would prefer Hooper to go rather than RVW!
Maybe it is the Finidi George thing! But I cant help feeling gutted that after 30yrs I get to witness us making big moves (even though 8m is not a massive amount in modern football) for Players like the Wolf it will be a while until we get linked to such exciting prospects again!
But hey ho, I am sure Neil Adams know what he is doing!! The most important thing to me, and I guess most City fans is that we get out of this league ASAP. With or without Ricky!!

For me it seems that those who want him to stay are fantasising. He did nothing last year to suggest that he has what it takes and much to suggest that he has been seriously found out. That pass to no one was right in front of me at Fulham and I still cannot believe it. Even when he was playing so badly his attitude when he was subbed was hard to comprehend. I don't buy the blame it on Hughton strategy. His poor runs and his complete lack of physical presence suggested that he was a very poor buy and a waste of money (not just the fee but the ongoing wages). I would be happy to see him go and if it is on loan then should he prove us doubters wrong in France, or elsewhere, then we will at least recoup some of the money that we have so far wasted on him.

St Étienne has been mentioned a few times, so it seems logical. I hoped RvW would stay, but all the signs said that he didn't want to play Championship football, and in our hearts I think we knew that was probably the case, like with Remy at QPR last year. His positive tweets kept good relations, but I think he said he wanted to leave from the beginning if an offer came in that the Club were willing to accept. The number change suggested this, as did trying to sign Callum Wilson. In a way, I'm glad it's resolved so we can move on, though in this case my avatar says it all by proxy.

I don't think a big club like St Étienne would be signing him if they thought he would be "a waste of money". He is a good player and my money is on him doing well over there.

Definitely the Finidi George thing for me as well. I believed he was worth a shot at proving himself at the lower level though. I hope we'll be back making marquee signings before long but I too think it might be a once bitten twice shy thing for the club. I hope he turns them down, grits his teeth together, gets given a chance and takes it. I think he'd be far better under adams with more support up front with him. How was he supposed to score last year with 3 DM's playing and two wingers that never passed to him?
I think we'll lose out with this one.

I don't think we will. I hope he'll have a decent season there, and either come back to us a better striker, or actually be worth something, if we decide to sell. This move makes perfect sense to me.
