I was not suggesting that he would be a waste of money to St Etienne but that to date he has been a waste of money for us. In excess of £10 million for a one goal return cannot be termed anything other than a total waste. I hope he does well if he goes there - that would be good for us and far less of a gamble than paying his high wages if he struggles in the Championship.
I don't agree. Clearly by giving him squad number 20 Adams was intimating that he didn't see him as the spearhead of the attack. I think it's more a case of Adams not wanting him than the club squeezing him out to save money. The guy's been a consummate pro amid all the speculation, but a year in a decent league with European football to boot works well for all concerned. I think we'll hang on to Hooper now, unless we get 'silly money' and have a replacement lined up.
Turning that around slightly, it would be just as feasible that Ricky and Neil had a chat, and Ricky expressed a preference to going on loan somewhere, if the opportunity came up. Saying on twitter how much you want to stay at a club is the modern day equivalent of a player kissing his badge one week, and being off the next.
