The triple change undoubtedly swung the tide in our favour, but man oh man if I was a Sunderland fan I'd be absolutely baffled as to how they didn't score before that point. I mean there was some fantastic last-ditch defending from Hanley in particular (albeit it was needed because for the first hour we kept gifting the ball away and putting ourselves in silly situations),but we really rode our luck today. If Alex Neil had still been in the dugout I have a feeling we could've easily lost that game.

3 points is all that matters though I guess, and I have to say a win away at the Stadium of Light is a good 3 points. First away win and a sheet clean is certainly nothing to complain about. I'm still far from convinced by us though, we were really quite poor for an hour today.

Rashica absence is obviously one of the big talking points. I was so excited about the prospect of seeing him in the Championship, he could easily be the best player in the league, but he has looked miles off it so far. Honestly if we can sell him, get a decent amount of money and use that to find a winger who actually looks interested then I'll be fine with that.

Birmingham and Coventry next 2 games, 2 teams currently in the bottom 4. If we can get 6 points from those games like we should then we really be in a good position, potentially top of the league, which is mad to say considering I'm saying I'm still not convinced by us as a team or Deano.

It was a good day out. Got better as the game went on and nicked the goal. Even managed to stop off at Grantham Wetherspoon and had a chicken pizza and non alcoholic cider

Tbh yes I thought Sarge too, but maybe v. slightly less so.
So far, I think I'm veering on the side of VAR, but it's a close run thing. All depends who's in the little caravan in the middle of nowhere! They do say it's got better this season?

I'm afraid my health no longer allows me to attend matches, let alone way oop North, so I will have to admit to being an all weather plastic these days.

I think it's a long debate this one. We've had experience of both ends of it of course. I know we're only a few games in but so far I'm not impressed with the standard of Championship refs, particularly when things happen right in front of them. Obviously they are but human and mistakes will happen, I totally accept that but there do seem to be an increasing number of times when the guy is in the right place, incident happens and nothing. Hence my leaning towards VAR, and I never thought I'd hear myself say that!.

I hate VAR with a passion .... some of the 'tonenail' offsides are ridiculous .... I can cope with some dodgy decisions but the evil eye spoils many a good game IMHO.
