I'll be going and I fancy a win today. Norwich know they have to impress. If Stoke win, I'll eat my scarf. Come on Norwich!

Good win today. A bit quiet in the stadium. But I liked what I saw. I liked the line up. Hayden, Byram, McCullum impressed me. Good to see Dowell back. I was even impressed when Nunez came on and showed what he can do. However, he lost possession again that lead to their goal. No chasing back to rectify his mistake. Cantwell was a prime example of this. He was chasing everything today. I am happy for Smith today. If we can do that Wednesday, which, I believe we can, our confidence will soar. Pukki looking a lot slower today than most games, but he assisted in the two goals. Sara looked good also. Great win! Happy days.

I thought we were absolutely dreadful! In fact we were so bad first half I actually missed the first goal as was already on my way to the bar for a half time pint! We looked void of ideas, poorly organised, and generally clueless. The subs definitely changed the game and praise for Cantwell who looked really up for it.

I honestly struggle to make sense of that game.

Fair description, it's been difficult to actually see what the game plan is recently.
Cantwell was outstanding, he's been working hard last few times I've seen him, the Km's he and Josh must have covered last game doing all that defending was ridiculous.

The only clue as to tactics has been Smith saying that the players have to sort out what they want to do which they then present to the coaches.
That seemed like a recipe for disaster when I heard it, perhaps that's why it looks so disastrous on the pitch?

One thing that yesterday did reveal was that perhaps playing with a single striker actually suits us better?

Not sure what point you're making?
If you mean not having Josh on the right wing then no, can't say Dowell was any better than him.

I fell asleep on the sofa while listening to the match. I only woke up when Goreham screamed down my earhole when we scored the 2nd goal. The last last 20 minutes sounded fairly exciting. Hopefully I will be able to make the QPR game.

The point I'm making is that the formation we finished with yesterday, I assume 4-5-1 actually suits us better, which was shown by our midfielders getting amongst the goals. I'd play either Pukki, or Josh.

Are you convinced that it's the formation which changed the game and not the substitutions?
I reckon that whatever formation we had, we'd have still been turgid till the subs came on with their energy.
Surely our players seem to wander around anyway, only seem to be in any rigid formation at kickoff.

I don't think trying to shoehorn both Pukki and Sargent into sides, has particularly worked.
I agree, it hasn't worked at all.
Do you think it would be workable if Josh was central and Teemu was out right?
Teemu can play well in other positions and influence the game, Josh can only influence the game when playing centrally, but he had discovered form playing in the middle & offers more options than Pukki who requires that specific pass to do his thing.

Teemu was originally signed as a 10, to play behind Rhodes, but I would still edge towards playing either him or Josh.

He is out of contract at the end of the season, and I reckon he'll be Turkey bound in January.

He's still on good money here till the end of the season, will anywhere other than the Premier League be able to offer decent money for him? Unless he's off to the States for a longer contract?

I like the 4-5-1 formation ... we have the players to make that succeed. Personally I would play Sarge as the lone striker as he offers more in that role that Pukki. He is also nearly 10 years younger and we should be looking forward (no pun intended). He may not like it, but Pukki would make an excellent impact sub.

There's several who could leave or sign pre contracts in January.
Not sure if any clubs would cough up decent money for a player they can get free in a few months, and we don't appear to have any cash to bring players in.
