One thing I remember is my dad turning to me towards the end of the game saying "the only bad thing is,  you know it will never get better than this".  I think he's probably right.

Best day of my life, without a doubt. Everything about it was perfect. There's really nothing more you need to say than that

Was this the right goal to be sitting behind?

Called it.
Actually Bryan Gunn called it a few weeks ago. On Radio 4 he was asked what he would like from the play-offs (before opponents were known). He said it would be sweet to beat Ipswich over a two-legged derby and then to get revenge on Boro in the final.

And he was right!

over the years, too many City managers have left changes until very late in the day.

Sometimes that been true of the board as well. In doing what they did with Adams and Neil, theyve shown that they have learned from their mistakes too. All credit to the board as well. Neil was a gem unearthed in the way Lambert was. I would love to know how his appointment came about - how long we'd been watching him.

Adams officially resigned but its hard to know how much the board had to do with his departure. They made the right decision if they were behind it, not leaving it too late like they did with Hughton

It was lucky we had screens, the goals seemed a looooong way away!
What a shame. I went to the old Wembley when I was 17 to watch a Champions League match (just cuz I wanted to see one). Sat moreorless where you were there, and Batistuta scored at the other end for Fiorentina against Arsenal. Felt a long way away then too!

It didn't detract from my overall Wembley experience, or stop me celebrating so hard, I think I disrupted internal organs :D

Are you sure you weren't sitting in my seat when you took that?!  I must've been literally 1 or 2 rows behind you.  Not a bad view!
Amazing view! I was in *looks for ticket* Block 111 Row 11, seat 243.

Ayala clearly stopped expecting a foul. None of the commentators even mentioned that again though (the alleged foul - they went on non-stop about how Ayala should have played to the whistle) so it wasnt perceived as contentious. Perhaps the Boro fans will see htings differently.

In actuality, I think the Boro keeper could have done better with both goals. I know theyve kept more clean sheets than anyone else this season, but dont think thats been down to the keeper. Didnt he start the season 3rd choice? Think few teams get through to the keeper like we did. Had a bit of a soft underbelly for me

Just to add to my post on the commiserations thread, I suspect the Boro fans I could see and hear think Jerome should be before the Beaks today answering assault charges.

The keeper even had a feature a few weeks back on Sky (but could be BBC) celebrating his clean sheets and the stability he brought to the team.  He was hopelessly wrong with Jerome perhaps expecting the cut back as against Ipswich.

Incidentally, in both those goals, I thought Jerome was so Holt like in grappling the ball from the defender and creating mayhem that he seemed like a Grant tribute act.

Definitely something in that. Jerome has been brilliant for us at this level. If Im honest I dont really rate Grabban and think he will fall short at Premier League Level. Jerome is proven at Premier League level to be able to do a job, and based on some of the goals he's scored this season deserves the chance to be prolific for us in the Premier league. I hope he is not side-stepped for some flashy big name in the way the real Grant was

I'm not convinced on Jerome at Prem level, but after all he's done this year he deserves a good chance to prove himself and I hope i'm proved wrong. I just think playing up top on his own, he will get maybe 1 or 2 chances in a whole game and I'm not sure thats enough for him.

I think he'd be much more useful if he has someone up there with him (maybe Hooper as a CF or CAM) to run in the spaces Jerome will create by dragging defenders all over the place.

Jerome's 20 goals in 35 starts and 9 sub appearances is no mean feat, considering he came into the team after the season had started and none were penalties. He's not just a goalscorer though, as his excellent cut-back for Howson's goal against Ipswich showed. Neil's tactics favour mid-fielders following into the box and Redmond, Howson and BJ will all thrive on Jerome's cut-back's and his dragging defenders out of position. Even PL defences can be caught out by that.

Grabban and Hooper will provide useful options as well and I wonder if RvW may well come back for the PL.

Just home from London. A simply incredible day and probably my best ever experience as a Norwich fan, the only one which would rival it would be Bayern Munich at home, I was only 9 or 10 years old but that was also very special. Never celebrated a goal as wildly as I did that first, went absolutely mental running down the stairs and hugging random strangers, what an adrenaline rush.

If anybody has ever had moments of disillusionment with the sport, wondering why they persevere with following club football, then being present yesterday would have given you the answer. Once and a while you get to experience something very special, I truly think that yesterday will bring us all closer together as a club, for the first time in a long time our club felt like one big family.

Anybody who has ever had the argument that we should sacrifice the domestic cups to make 17th more likely whether fan or ceo (hint), if at the game yesterday, should now fully understand why we would should take the cups seriously. My life's dream now is to see our club lift an FA Cup in that stadium, and we aren't going to have a better chance than we do with this current manager over the next couple of years.

If that's what winning a play-off final feels like, then I want to see what winning a cup final feels like! Our players also now have that taste of Wembley, and hopefully they'll be hungry for more.

Have we played a better 45 minutes all season than we did in that first half? It didn't feel like we lost the ball once, apart from the Bassong back heel. Hoolahan and Redmond were just sublime yesterday.

Don't think I've ever felt this buzzed the day after a game. I have calmed down enough now though to actually go into a little bit more detail about the game itself.

I imagine that for the neutral, that the 2nd half in particular wasn't particularly spectacular. Looking back on the game, there wasn't really any significant chance for either side after we went 2-0 up after 15 minutes. It was an absolutely flying start and when both teams hit the bar within the space of a minute I thought we were in for an absolute cracker. However it didn't matter at all to me and every other Norwich fan that it wasn't that great a game, because it was just such an enjoyable day, and the atmosphere all the way through the game kept it incredibly entertaining.

I think that we shocked Middlesbrough really, and they didn't really know how to react when we came flying out the blocks at them. I imagine they planned to do what they did to us at Carrow Road, however we didn't give them a chance to do that, because we nullified their attack every time they tried to go forward, didn't give them any time on the ball, were really organised defensively, and then took an early 2 goal lead, and from then on it was barely a contest. The double substitution we made with about 20 minutes left completely killed the game, and I thought a big reason for that was that Dorrans added a lot of energy to the midfield, and Middlesbrough's tired legs couldn't cope with that. I have seen Boro fans complaining about how they can never seem to get back into a game once they go behind, so it was clear that Alex Neil had done his homework. I thought the only players that actually impressed me from the Boro side were the left back George Friend, who looked good going forward as well as quite solid defensively, and I think I'm right in saying he won their POTS, and Albert Adomah was always a bit of a threat, but although he put plenty of good balls into the box, we dealt them practically every time.

For us Cameron Jerome was rightly man of the match. Took his goal very well (although what on Earth the keeper was doing I don't know) and worked tirelessly all game, causing so many problems for their defence. Redmond as well was class and like many he has clearly benefited from Alex Neil's arrival. What he does now which I haven't seen him do before, is he often comes inside to collect the ball, and then he runs at defenders, and it causes real problems. His record since AN came in is 5 goals and 7 assists, whereas his record under Neil Adams was 1 goal and 6 assists. He's really starting to add some end product to his game, and hopefully that continues into next season. I also thought Martin and Bassong at the back were absolutely solid. Martin was questionable over 2 legs against Ipswich. He was partly at fault for their goal in the away leg with a poor header, and also lost out aerially to Daryl Murphy who assisted Tommy Smith for their equaliser in the home leg, but he won everything pretty much in the air yesterday, as did Bassong. For some reason I felt love for Russell Martin after the game yesterday more than any other player. I think partly because he's had a lot of stick this season, so I was delighted for him that he played so well when it mattered in the final, and also because it's really clear how much he loves this club, so great for him to lift the trophy at Wembley. I have to admit I don't think Wes had his most effective game, but he was undoubtedly still very good, and humiliated Boro defenders on several occasions. The rest of the team I would describe as 'good'. Not spectacular but solid. Ruddy on the whole dealt with everything very well, although he didn't have much to do.

As you can tell by my post a couple of pages back, I was on absolute cloud 9 yesterday. Just felt ridiculously happy, and I would definitely go as far as to say that it was one of the best days of my life so far. This is what I don't understand about people who live in Norwich but support Chelsea or Manchester United or whatever. Why would you support them when you have such a wonderful football club on your doorstep. As I said yesterday I was so proud of everyone associated with Norwich City yesterday, and as I said previously I will happily wait another 30 years for a day like that because it is so worth waiting for. One of the moments that actually made me smile the most yesterday was to do with my dad. He's had to take a lot time off work this last year/this year because of stress and depression. He's been back at work a couple of months now and is definitely improving, but still isn't really back to his 'normal self'. But he turned to me with about 5 minutes of the game left to go yesterday, and said "I obviously want this to end because I really want us to win, but at the same time I don't want it to end because I'm enjoying it so much." Made me so happy when he said that yesterday and all day today he hasn't stopped talking about the game, and it makes me a little bit emotional just thinking about it now. That's just the effect football can have though I guess, and it's days like yesterday that I will remember all my life, and gives you a reminder of why you give up so much money and time following this football club, even through all the dark days, and it's so completely worth it.

The 3 months or so without football always seems to go pretty slowly, but it'll certainly be interesting to see the players that Alex Neil brings in this summer, as well as those who leave. Can't wait for next season now, just hope it comes around quickly.

I sometimes think that this is something you can get from supporting a smaller club that the supporters of teams like Man Utd and Chelsea will never understand. They will never know the heartache of relegation, but they can never know the sense of redemption on getting promoted, which of course tastes all the sweeter after being relegated. They will never know how it feels to have your wounds healed like that

It will be interesting when the fixture list comes out in the middle of next month I hope we are at home on the first game. I have only now just come down to earth, I never knew that their were so many emotions that a person could go through. Let them all have a well deserved break and come back refreshed ready for the kick off.OTBC
