Mid Field Pairing

After Field and Wright being our mid-field pair instead of McLean & Mattsson, maybe we have a very good pairing, who look to be working very well together. With game on Saturday before the two week braek and both McLean & Mattsson carrying injuries, should we just leave mid-field as is on Saturday giving extra time for injuries to recover or if they are available play them ?

Good plan - don’t change a winning team but perhaps ease them in as subs.

Probably both pretty tired after Sat then Tuesday 90 mins in both. Depends on the fitness of the other two, think they deserve to keep their place but at the same time could probably do with some fresh legs so its a tricky one.

Mattsson must come in when fit in my opinion. Bristol will be much more competitive than Derby were.

I think Wright is benefiting from an extended run but three games in a week may be pushing our luck.

As always it depends on the injury list.

I would always go with not changing a winning team, and I'm sure if you asked Wright and Field if they were fighting fit and raring to go for Saturday, they would both say "Yes." What actually constitutes our best pairing is another question now though. Mattsson is clearly our best midfielder, we can't seem to win without Kenny (apart from the last few games) and I would think that Wright is his long term replacement.

Good problems to have. Not forgetting we have Topic and Gabe Forsyth waiting in the wings.

I do agree that he's the better player on his day, but I think he's been more prone to losing his head and going for the man rather than the ball on quite a few occasions this season.
I think Field and Wright looked pretty composed last night. And ok, Derby weren't great, but they both seemed to read the game well and be in the right place, meaning less need for last ditch challenges.

Even with Pelle fit i'd like to see this pairing kept together to see how they manage against better opposition. I think they're inherently less rash, which could translate in having more control of the game.

Would agree with this. They didn't come across as makeshift or in any way just a stand in pairing keeping the shirt warm till others are fit.
