Has the tide finally turned?

Don’t want to count my canaries but the last 3 games have been back to the levels we all hoped for at the start of the season.
Helped by playing some of the weakest opposition in the championship but can we now start to look forward with more optimism?
PC has shuffled his pack partly through necessity and partly through rotation and it’s starting to click.
Confidence is growing and even Paris almost smiled!
Upwards and onwards!!!

As you say, we’ve beaten 3 sides in abysmal form.

A very pleasing run of results, but for me, the structural flaws are still evident and will continue to be exploited against the better Championship sides.

Probably?

Confidence is a massive thing in football, when things are going badly it feels like you are running through treacle, you mentally beat yourself up, and are scared to take risks. Confidence can make average players great players. We have shown that we have good players, in some cases the best in the division, and I think we, maybe, got a bit carried away at the start of the season with the expectation, then reality hit hard. Injuries to Ahmed, Toure and Makama kinda ruined the script, as our plan A was just to blow teams away with our forward pace and power.

There were a lot of positives last night, regardless of the standard of the opposition, the midfield worked hard, the defence stepped up to support when needed, and I saw Paris dropping deep too, to link up the play. Those things have been missing in previous games, leaving gaps to be exploited.

I'm still confident we'll reach the play offs.

Confidence can take you a long way in this division, but you have to remember we’ve won 6 matches and 4 of those are against teams in the bottom 5 (and Sheffield weren’t in great form when we played them). The only result that stands out currently is Birmingham.
If we can start picking up results against teams higher in the table I’ll believe we’ve turned a corner, however until then I still feel it’s only a mid table squad at best

We have started to pick up results which breeds confidence in the squad, continue that against some better teams and we really might be onto something again!

Think we may still struggle with giving up goals against better sides at times, but if we can continue to improve game by game, the play offs are very much a possibility this season.

I usually wait til the last week of November / first week of December before settling on what might happen in the season. It's a good time to assess from watching over the years. The 3 consecutive wins now make it interesting and there's a chance we could get around those 5th to 8th positions.

I've rarely felt we were a relegation team (some performances were poor but we've too much firepower to think we'd get stuck like Derby and Preston).

So, it's a turn round yes, but hopefully we will be in a better position after the Wrexham at home match. That game is the 5th of 5 important games (Bristol. Cardiff, QPR, Preston before ) Even after that game we play Blackburn away midweek.

It has certainly banished any thoughts of relegation from the picture. We narrowly lost a series of difficult games and the confidence of the team and the supporters was badly shaken. This recent run of games against the lesser lights has restored the feelgood effect and gives us an opportunity to kick on.

I fully expect us to finish in the top eight.

I think Saturday will tell us a lot more than the last three fixtures have personally.

We have to be resilient enough to go toe to toe with the teams around where we sit now. You have to beat the poor teams and we’ve done that, however if we regress to another narrow loss on Saturday all the doubts immediately return.

Keeping a clean sheet yesterday was a massive psychological win on top of the wins themselves IMO.

I never had any real worries about relegation personally, but I’m not yet convinced this team mentally and structurally has what it takes to get back into the form of last season.

The difference in levels of fitness last night when our tails are up is night and day, just shows how important the mental side is when you're seeing it affect the physical aspects.
Momentum is key, I do question how quick the belief drains from us going against better teams though.
I thought things would turn when Makama returned. What's good about this turn around is that we're doing it without Kenny or Makama starting and also scoring from many areas of the pitch.

I am now at least not worrying about the potential for relegation, I don't think we'll be troubling the top 2, I predicted 7th at the beginning of the season and I think there's a good chance of that now

More important is I've hit a run of form in the prediction league and I've rocketed up to 10th!
