Hi guys. Banned from pinkun for starting a post that stated " Ipswich Town are a football club as are Norwich, lets talk".

Farage revealed that his real purpose was ro oppose the Football Regulator which is trying to get more fan influence in Football. Not truly a man of the people type is he.

Then again given the dire performance of the two main parties it is understandable why large swathes of the public may think that he is.

Was Ed Balls Chairman of NCFC when we breached the minimum wage legislation? Where was Delia?
Thats a pretty thin reason to dislike him :D

Farage or Balls?
I dislike them both.
The latest news concerning Farage concerns his failure to explain a £5 million donation which he seems to claim was spent on his own security.
Balls for his public spat with the leader of the Green Party whilst seemingly trying to distance himself from the Labour Party having recently interviewed his Labour front bench Wife on TV.
If they were Little Britain actors there maybe sonething to like about them.

...Equally I strongly suspect Zoe Webber would happily engage Farage on his anti Football Regulator Agenda.

Interesting reading this now, things have moved on.

The Reform bubble seems to be slowly deflating as more sleazy news about Farage comes out, along with repeated exposes of councillors and/or candidates making blatantly racist statements (I’m shocked I tell you, shocked ).

Restore have planted a flag to the right of Reform, who (so far) have drawn the line at expressing support for Tommy Robinson - or Danny Tommo, the latest “patriot” with a made-up name. So they’ve siphoned off some of the votes that Nige could have expected.

The Greens have been the victims of a reverse takeover by the left. Previous supporters of Jeremy Corbin and groups like Momentum seem to have given up on “Your” Party as its leaders broke it squabbling with each other before it had even got going. So they’ve leached onto the Green Party and somehow managed to force it to adopt an anti-Israel/Zionist policy that the majority of its members seem to disagree with. Plus Zack “look into my eyes” Polanski failed to win Kier Starmer’s old parliamentary seat and has mishandled the Zionist disaster.

Kemi Badenoch is apparently having a renaissance. This appears to be because grumblers in her party have shut up for now (she’s expelled those she hasn’t barred from standing as MPs), so the right wing press are proclaiming she’s the new messiah. But the polls haven’t really budged, IMHO because her strategy of being just slightly less right-wing than Reform ain’t going to fix what lost them so many votes in the last election. Which was supporters in the Home Counties and safe Tory seats tactically voting for the inoffensive LibDems (an ironic mirror image of Labour’s failed attempt to win back so-called “hero” voters who had defected to Reform).

But things are different mainly because Andy Burnham has marched down from the North to save us. An authentic man of the people. Apparently. He was even on Gogglebox last night! Which I didn’t think went that well, he seemed awkward. Steve Rotherham (Liverpool mayor, political soulmate of Andy’s) came across better. His main virtue is he’s clearly a political player to his bones, unlike Starmer. His weakness we’re told is trying to be all things to all people. He seemed to get on even with Orange Don. We’ll see.

Wow, I do seem to have got a lot off my chest. Thanks for reading this far - if you have.

It genuinely hurts my head to think about the state of politics right now. I don't know if this is just a symptom of getting older or not. But Britain feels pretty fucked, and I can't see much getting better anytime soon.

A fair summary I think.
Incredible stupidity by the Greens and would suggest it may well make them unelectable to very many.
Burnham will run out of his honeymoon period soon enough. Badenoch seems to have stabilised the Tories but membership must be falling due to the average age of their supporters. Some centre right ex Tories are targeted by Davey but he is under pressure. People seem to now see that Farage is in it for the money and the bubble is deflating, albeit not burst.
I don't think politics has been very good for decades @morty. And it is possible that you're seeing things differently as you age.
For me, the Jackdaw decision is a welcome one, likewise the supposed renewed interest on paying for care and for an older population (and how). Even a reset with Europe is more positive than negative but again it is leading to division already within the government.

I'm not too hopeful for the next 10 years and probably feel as gloomy as I ever have. I try and keep fit and healthy and talk to people locally every day, taking an interest in them and family and I generally try and be happy. I read widely and I may be able to find a form of words for what might be solutions but that will take me a few weeks to think about before posting. And my focus (as I'm well into retirement now) is just trying to enjoy each day! Politics rarely, if ever, adds to much.

Despite being a man of the left, the Green Party are the scariest of the lot for me at the moment.

I've read too much about how the Iranian Revolution succeeded. Its very reminiscent of how the socialists were elected into power in Iran when it was still a democracy, in alliance with the Islamists, only for the Islamists to take over the party, kill all those socialists, and essentially end democracy. Not saying that this will happen in the UK, but I am saying that there are entryist factions in the Green Party who are seeing it as a vehicle to position themselves in the mainstream of politics.

It's simultaneously the party of Trans people and the party of the people who would love to make being trans and gay illegal. The useful idiots in this situation aren't the Islamists, they are the smart ones.

I like Andy Burnham. I think he'll find he'll struggle to achieve what he wants to achieve, but I like the fact he's trying, things felt utterly hopeless under Starmer and Reeves, just a "look we're in decline so we'll manage that decline as well as possible", it was defeatist and depressing. Burnham also doesn't seem to be completely infested with 'woke' ideology and identity politics and sees much of it as trivial chitter chatter which achieves little positive on a macro level to improve the lives of the average Joe. He feels like he might be the most competent PM we've had for a while to be honest, although that bar is set quite low. Sunak was what we needed at that particular time to settle markets, but every other leader we've had since Cameron has been like a deer in the headlights in that role.
