Maybe we can convince him we'll get promoted though. Birmingham were very nearly a league 1 team this season. We are joint favourites to go up.

What hasn't been said yet, and it pains me to say it, but you do have to give credit to Mr.Hughton for this. The fact that he bought him for £3m, and now some of us are saying we should reject £9m because he could be worth more, is fantastic business.

Perfectly true GMD. But we can criticise the fact that no player was bought to be the playmaker. Wes is only a decent player at our present level, in the EPL he was not it up to it. In fact, I am going to be heretically controversial now and state that I do not believe Wes is a starter with our current squad.

Agreed, although Wes has been excellent so far this season and has done nothing to warrant being dropped. I'm sure form and fitness will ensure that everyone gets a fair amount of pitch time as the season wears on, though.

I also agree. Think Wes is a tool. A tool for a certain job. We shouldnt build the team around him anymore. It does make you wonder what might have been had Quagliarella been signed. But in all honesty I dont think he'd have made a difference. I think Hughton felt he could leave the strikers to it and they would score goals. We didnt scoere goals in his first team because the strikers were not good enough, after all we had an ex-tyre fitter up there. Splurge 13m on two strikers, problem solved, goals guaranteed and I can concentrate on drilling the defensive side of the team. Honestly believe that was his thought process and it failed spectacularly. Lambert lit a fire up under his players and told them to prove themselves and not be afraid. Hughton did the opposite, he decided we would always be inferior and wouldnt be able to compete and so needed to shore up against such quality

I am happy that Redmond has stayed, along with others who we needed to keep...Been watching football from all different leagues and countries for many years, played a few games..Watched the World cup game live Portugal v Korea. Even saw Eusebio make a couple of mistakes in that game, but he didn't get the criticism that young boys like Redmond are getting..I guess we all used to watch football with relish and enjoyment...Now we have 100s of master tacticians on the different sites, and yet none of them are professional football managers

We now live in a different world Gerry. Money has changed football, and saturation coverage of it has changed the average fan. I grew up in a small village a few miles from Swaffham. No transport to anywhere so we had no chance to get to Carrow Road. The radio football results at five o'clock was our only touch with a match.
