Sam Clucas

Apparently ourselves and Wigan are after Chesterfield's 24 year old midfielder/left back Sam Clucas, to be honest I know absouletly nothing about this lad, seems a bit odd though, you'd think if we were going after players from the lower leagues it would be 18-19 year olds for the future, so I really don't know what to think of this

Will be 25 before the season gets into full swing. I know nothing about the guy but it wouldn't fill me with confidence.

Does sound like an odd one, although James Vardy went from Fleetwood Town to an England cap in three years, and we took Grant Holt from League Two to the Premier League. Just a worry that all our our current fringe players are also midfielders/wingers.... Odidja, Andreu, Elliott Bennett. Looks as if this Clucas is a left footed midfielder. We are short of those but I hope he are aiming a bit higher, personally been hoping that we've got a contract offer on the table for Sako from Wolves.

In both the Vardy and Holt cases, they were signed while both teams were at the lower level and they improved with the team.

Chucking Clucas into a premiership squad doesn't seem like the most logical next step for him. I just struggle to see him getting many opportunities.

That said, his stats add up well, a 6"2' left footer with a 1 in 5 strike rate from midfield.

I live in Buxton and know a few Chesterfield, Derby and Mansfield fans. They all rate this kid highly! Would make a fantastic addition I feel.
