Considering that we've also had a bid rejected for Mbokani, maybe we're trying to sign Gestede rather than him. I very highly doubt that we'd bring in 2 new strikers, especially Gestede and Mbokani who are likely to cost £10m between them, I imagine we'll only sign one of them. Almost certainly means though that Van Wolfswinkel, and possibly Lafferty, are on their way out.

I think Din that you are reflecting many of the comments on Twitter this evening and subconsciously considering City as if nothing had changed. We can now spend £10m on two players. We probably should. We are Premier League and need to bolster the squad.

In this particular case the two players seem pretty similar so I suspect it's either or.......

But, at the risk of stating the obvious, a striker who score just 5 or 6 goals could still be the difference between relegation or not. Hughton's biggest mistake was not getting another striker in January like Rhodes or Gestede who knew where the goal was. Just two or three extra goals and we would have made it. It would have been £5m well spent.

I'm very relaxed about this activity. We need to spend and go into territory previously beyond our wildest dreams.

I do think though that you're right about strikers leaving. I'm wondering if the persistent Hooper rumours are accurate.

Today we've had rumours of an offer for Brady and of Hull interest in Gary. Exchange seems a neat solution.

Oh I have no problems with spending £10m on 1 player, let alone 2. My main point was though that £10m for us is still a fair bit of our budget, probably more than a third of it, and we don't at this point need to add 2 strikers. Unless of course someone leaves but there's been no real suggestion that one of our main 3 strikers is going to yet. If we bring in Gestede and Mbokani, and add them to Jerome, Hooper and Grabban that's 5 strikers that will all want to be in the first team, yet towards the end of last season we were playing 1 up front with Wes behind, if we continue with that then that'll mean 4 strikers on the bench, or more likely 2 on the bench and 2 in the reserves. Is there much point on paying £10m on new strikers when there's a chance that at least one of them won't even make the bench? I would rather we bring in one striker right now, and if one leaves bring in another.

I agree to a point Din but even with three good strikers, we went into a number of games last season with Loza or Morris on the bench. That will not do in the Prem. I like them both but they struggle to make a first team impact. If we play them this season, it will be in hope not expectation.

You need one or two on the pitch and two or one on the bench. Three in a squad.

Allow for injuries and suspensions and five is not excessive. Arguably, less than five would be foolhardy.

Signed for Aston Villa for anyone who didnt know. Might be a good player, but his value having gone up by a factor of 30 based on one season would have worried me, so not too upset this one has passed us by

Potentially a good signing for them (but he's no Benteke),but it's a definite gamble, even if it's not the most expensive on paper.
