Think I understand now why so many people seemed incapable of spelling our ex-managers name correctly. Using my other half's tablet today and just realised its auto-corrected hughton to Houghton every time!

Agree. There doesn't seem to have been much tactical nous shown this season. Why do we assume footballers are the worlds best tacticians/strategists/man managers. Footballers are hardly known for their IQs. Surprised management remains dominated by former players in this modern era. Especially as one of the most talented managers in the current game never kicked a ball in his life. I understand footballers need to respect their managers for them to be successful and lots of that will come from the bloke telling you what to do having been in your position, but it doesnt seem to be a problem for the special one...
And it doesn't help that we overestimate the ability of managers, coaches and players.

And I believe we have seriously overestimated our squad. To be honest, Turner, Bennett are not good enough as CB's. They make traffic cones look mobile.

Howson is a legend in peoples minds. Redmond is possibly the most overrated of them all. He couldn't beat an egg consistently.

Lafferty is not up to it unless he bullies and Grabban needs eight chances to score one.

And the coaching staff today have shown that they cannot produce a team that most weeks will turn out an entertaining and hopefully winning team.

What manager puts an underplayed CB at LB when we have an experienced one on the bench who may well be needed if Ollson's injury persists?

What manager puts a player who likes to poach and bring his team mates into the game in the opponents area, on his own up front?

What manager persists with Howson, O'Neill and Johnson in midfield when you are 1-0 down and your right wing is in the pocket of their left back MOTM?

I really saw today as a yardstick. And we came up 2 feet eleven inches short!

If those players want away today was a good advert cause no manager on this showing would want to fork out for rubbish because that's what they are rubbish. What the hell is going on they need a kick up the backside before its to late, there's no way that we will go up this season,I know it's only a cup game but winning breeds confidence and the confidence at the moment is nowhere to been seen.I think a decision needs to be made on who is best suited to take our beloved club forward in the right direction.

No not meant as any disrespect to League 1 clubs but you are a well supported club and have great pedigree in terms of certainly your recent past.

Just got back from the game and was surprised at how easy the game was. With the sort of team you had out I was really worried that you'd be too strong for us.

First half was very even and Hooper should have scored but he seemed to check with the linesman and lost control of the ball when he was 1 on 1. Had that gone in it could have been a different score and I felt that had you scored first we would have had to change our game plan which might have left us exposed.

As it was you had lots of possession but apart from a ten minute spell in the middle of the second half, I really didn't think you threatened us.

We made six changes from the game v Barnsley on Boxing Day which we won 1-0 and our left back Buchanan had Redmond in his pocket. Without that threat there really seemed to be no threat on goal. Johnson and Howson seemed to sit deep and not push on. There seemed to be a lack of a leader on the park driving the players on.

As for us, I posted yesterday that I felt if we got ahead then it would be difficult to break us down and once ahead we capitalised on the gaps at the back as you had to push on. That said, Gallagher finished them both well.

Can't believe Rudd didn't start as there was nothing to gain from playing Ruddy. Rudd got a great reception from the PNE fans which he richly deserved.

Best wishes for the remained of the campaign and fingers crossed you can kick on from here and win the PO final at Wembley!

Your summary seems about right, Missionary, although I only listened to the game. Disappointing performance from us as the players out there didn't rise to the occasion.

Completely forgot we were playing yesterday, until I happened to turn the tv on and Final Score was on, and we were 2-0 down.

Not too bothered that we're out of the cup tbh, the only thing that annoys me a little is that we didn't give more of the reserves a chance. It is a little worrying that we put out a relatively strong team, and still lost convincingly.
