Missing this one so we'll end up thrashing them, I'm sure.

First home game for a while for me. I made the trek to Newcastle, so I hope to see the resulting backlash against the baggies.

3-1 City.

Won't be as open that is for sure. Bouncebackability was an in term a few years ago. I hope it is as applicable nowadays.

Should be Whittaker but he's the most likely to take the fall for Newcastle, I think.

Doesn't Wisdom deserve a chance? Was good enough to play 24 times for West Brom last season and has played against and contributed towards a clean sheet against West Brom already this season.

I know that West Brom played a lot of fringe players in that game, but so did we and the fact remains that our only clean sheet in a competitive fixture this season came with Wisdom, Bennett and Rudd on the pitch for the whole 90 minutes.

Don't think we can ignore that after shipping 6 to a team who have struggled to score goals this season.

This was the back 5 in that game:

                        Rudd

Wisdom   Bennett   Bassong   Olsson

Perhaps that back 5 deserves a chance.

It is difficult. That defence has done pretty well for AN so maybe they deserve a chance to put things right. Plus tactical errors from AN have cost us.

I do think that it needs strengthening but obviously at least part of the reason why we haven't is because we're showing loyalty.

But if you have real quality available you can't afford to be sentimental about things. Which is why I'm doubtful about Wisdom. If he was the business surely he'd be in the team already.

The two key things that we need to find this week are energy and discipline - turn up with those and we should get the result we deserve.    That the squad have mainly been training on situations when we dont have the ball is a good thing and will hopefully hit home.

Ar for which players we have a wide squad of players of a similar level of capability - relatively it doesnt matter who appears they are strongly inter-changable.  The weakest performers last weak (Martin, Whits, Howson & Dorrans) are covered by Wisdom, R Bennett,  ONeill, Vadis - all capable alternatives but none a step change.

The one who may be most at risk is olsson,   with jarvis and brady for the left we may have better options than MO.

The only danger in not making a change is complacency; I believe the ill discipline and lack of energy was a symptom of a little over arrogance in the players,   who all seem to have a solid place with only Wes, Redmond and Dorrans regularly dropped.   (with the first two being amongst the best players,  with brady, this season - perhaps because they have more recovery time?)

As such a little rotation I think is called for - who it should be is much hard to suggest.

The team showed they can still compete even when getting taken to the cleaners scoreboard wise. Just a little less ball watching and more concentration and we could just as easily won last week. But we always had a chance at the other end of the pitch.

The manager made errors, which he admits in public which is what we want to hear. He can put them right tomorrow.even though I think Albion will try and stifle us and slow it down to their pace.

But I think he owes it to Bennett at least, to give him a start. He won't drop Martin so it he will have to shuffle him to RB. And that might make Redmond's job a bit easier.t

And to be honest, I was angry and confused last week especially with the manager but I still prefer the approach he is taking and hope he doesn't settle for tighter games. Stay up yes, but not at any cost for me.

I am hoping that there will be no or only a couple of changes worse case scenario.  I say this because I really do believe that last week was mainly about the initial tactics,  over commitment going forward and not defending anywhere near well enough as a unit/team.

That said, even though I have no issue with Olsson,  I do prefer the Brady/Jarvis combo down the left hand and Jerome up front as his the work he puts in I believe us a big part of the teams energy, but that's just a personal thing and I know many disagree.

Think there will be 2 changes if Mulumbu is fit with him and Jarvis on, Ollson and Howson rested

Yeah Alex Neil said in an interview that it's too soon for him, sounds like it'll be another couple of weeks at least.

Feels like a big game this one. A defeat here and I unfortunately think that a few fans will start to turn on Alex Neil. In all seriousness though we need to be winning games at home to teams like West Brom.

Team:

Ruddy
Wisdom R.Bennett Bassong Olsson
Redmond Howson Tettey Brady
Hoolahan
Mbokani
Might be an over-reaction, but I'd just drop Whittaker and Martin for this. They're just not good enough and tbh Ryan Bennett at his best is a good centre back.

No idea how this will end so not even gonna bother predicting. Would like to think though we'll bounce back after the shambles of a performance last week.

How much does he owe a player who he didn't sign and who has hardly featured for him?

Don't the players who have already delivered for him deserve a chance to redeem themselves?

Whilst I get what you're saying, I would be wary of dropping two of the defensive unit.
