Thought Brady was crap. Again.
Heh mayby I have odd relationship with Brady then. When rest rate him I think he is overrated and when rest hate him I think he is ok ^^

I thought Brady did ok today, figured it would be Jarvis coming off for Redmond, seems a strange one unless he got a knock

Even when Brady isn't having the best game we need him for freekicks and corners.

Jarvis works hard but his delivery isn't good enough. the best thing he's done in the last few weeks is miskick a shot.

We're done.

Only small consolation is we have 2 weeks before the next game for Klose to recover. Even a draw would have been okay today. Sickening.

Jarvis was very lively in the first half, which I guess is why Brady was taken off, probably should have taken Naismith off though and played Brady through the middle.

It's good that we do have those two weeks for Klose to recover, unfortunately our next game is Arsenal away, Klose or not I can't see us getting anything there, all we had to do today was not lose against a very poor side, instead we got thrashed and made them look like a good mid table side in comparison to us

Klose out with knee ligament damage.

As I said in my previous post, we're done.

Even without Klose I can't help thinking they could have defended better. It was clear how Sunderland would play and within 5 mins it appeared we simply hadn't prepared for the ball coming over the top.

Redmond stood out for me when he came on so I would also question the decision not to start him.

Terrible result

Got to agree with this unfortunately. It's all very reminiscent of our loss to West Brom which relegated us last time. Our only really winnable game is Watford but that won't be enough to keep us up even if we win it.

Yep. I'm pretty sure we will need 6 points to survive. Still got to hope we can do it but it will take some better performances and opposition with little to play for.

We need to beat watford and get a point against either Man Utd or Everton to have a chance, or at Arsenal, but lets face it thats pretty unlikely, on the positive side Sunderland still have some tricky games coming up, I think their next three are Arsenal (H),Stoke (A),Chelsea (H),so lets be hope they dont get any points from those, we have to hope as thats all we really have left

Even if we do stay up with 35 points it's nothing to be proud of is it? It would just be a result of 3 dire teams below us. But I can easily see Newcastle or Sunderland winning two more games and getting us relegated. The truth is we've had an appalling season and been relegation fodder from the start. The board are just crossing their fingers and hoping for the best. They learnt absolutely nothing from our last relegation.

Considering our defence is shite and our forwards never score I'd say that staying up would be a huge achievement. Who cares if it's because others are crap.

We're going down though so let's just not think about that.

By no means our worst performance of the season, we had plenty of possession and had enough chances to get something from the game, and you cannot ignore the fact that some key decisions went against us, which like last week were at crucial times in the match.

I am still a bit stunned, as that Sunderland team are really not great, and it was such a good chance for a positive result, but I still cannot right us off in this league just yet, you just never know.

As for the starting eleven, like many on here and other boards, I was happy with it, very little tinkering for a change, and I thought that, perhaps other than Redmond, it was our strongest eleven right now from the available players, putting aside my Martin preference that I know few support.

I'm guessing Brady had a knock, and I was surprised by how poor our front two were (Kaboul had Mbokhani in his pocket most of the time),Hoolahan came on and to be frank made very little impact, unlike Redmond who looked class and is clearly worth a start, something I really cannot understand. That said, despite my previous rants relating to our Manager, I refuse to go overboard now on that subject, and genuinely believe he has done well over the last few weeks keeping us in the hunt, he is not used to this situation, he is doing his best and today, has been robbed of our most influential player and as I mentioned before the match was up against a team managed by Big Sam, a Manager who has the t-shirt for knowing how to set up a side for such crucial matches.

Well the Redmond thing comes down to the manager worrying more about what they could do to us and not what we could do to them.

Unfortunately it hasn't paid off. Again.

Have to say from where I sit I thought that the referee got the penalty decision completely wrong. It looked as if Wisdom basically kicked the ball against Borini;s leg. Having seen and heard some of the reactions though it seems that the referee made the right call. I didn't have a great view of the apparent foul on Bassong for the 2nd goal, so I'll be interested to see it back. Nevertheless what on Earth Bassong was doing holding onto the ball for so long I have no idea.

Naismith, to be honest, has been utter sh*t since his debut. Doesn't really look too interested, seems to lack fitness, and just hasn't had anything like the effect in games that he should be having for the money we paid. I thought Wisdom did well up until he gave the penalty away, after that he completely collapsed though. Wisdom really highlights the main reason why we are almost certain to go down, we massively failed to improve our squad in either transfer window. Klose and Brady, and possibly Mbokani, are the only signings we've made this season that have actually done well. That's 3 out of 13 players that we've bought in.

3-0 was undoubtedly flattening. Sunderland really didn't perform very well but stuck numbers in and around their own area, making it very difficult for us to break them down, and then when they had opportunities they were clinical. Their win was deserved, no doubt about that, however Andre Marriner did seem keen to help them on their way. Whilst there were an excessive amount of free-kick claims, there was still an awful lot of 50/50 calls that went against us.

Have to say I think Neil made a mistake by not selecting Redmond. Jarvis' delivery is quite frankly appalling, whereas Redmond's performance off the bench made us look much more threatening, even if only briefly. If he had been in from the start we would've had a lot more attacking quality, and would maybe of been capable of taking the game to Sunderland a bit more than we did.

I think that could well be it for us. Newcastle and Sunderland both have a game in hand and are both coming off the back of impressive 3-0 wins. We have a difficult run-in, but considering the way this season has gone it's by no means an impossible feat for us to pick up points against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, however with Klose and Tettey both out for the season, and the two North East sides now having some momentum, I think we are likely doomed.

Ball first then studs right into his foot. would have been a bit sore. Certainly not one we can be mad about.

He was looking for a pass and it's why I feel sorry for him. Bassong always moves the ball quickly when a pass is on. He holds on to it when there isn't anyone to pass to. Unfortunately many people in the crowd (not saying about this you) fail to realise that there is a lack of movement and people making themselves available so they get on his case and not those who are standing still.

But then if he hoofs it the crowd don't like it. And if he passes it backwards the crowd don't like it. He can't win.

Maybe he should just hide up like Bennett does.

The sickening thing is McNally identified failing to improve the squad as the reason for our last relegation and we go and do the same again this season.

Worth bearing in mind that we came up through the play-offs, which means confirmation of promotion is delayed relative to the automatic slots, which puts you at further disadvantage for signing players relative to other teams.
