Clips from this mornings press conference :-

Alex Neil: "Lewis Grabban is ahead of schedule but I'm not setting any targets for him."

Alex: "It's disappointing losing any of the players, but it is what it is with Bradley Johnson. We'll just need to adapt. Someone else will get an opportunity now."

Alex: "The boys are in good shape just now. There are no niggles that are causing us any issues."

Alex: "We've got a gameplan in place for Bolton and we'll go and carry it out."

Alex on Martin's new deal: "Whether we're in the Championship or Premier League, it's important to have a core of players and Russell is a big part of that. It's great that we've secured him for another three years. He's been a great captain since I've come in."

Alex: "Bolton are a good side in terms of attacking. Defensively we'll have to be at our best, and we'll have to be sharp at the top end of the pitch too."

Alex: "This stage is crucial now. We've clawed back a lot of points on teams around us, but the next five games will determine our fate. We're in a good place and we're playing really well."

Alex: "We believe that any game we go into we're capable of winning. That's the belief you have to instil into a squad, and we've got that now."

Alex: "Vadis has had very limited game time. He's trained and played some Under-21s games, and he's getting sharper and sharper with every training session."

Alex: "I think Elliott Bennett will travel up to the squad for the two games."

Alex: "We're going to stay up north to prevent the lads doing too much travelling. We need to plan ahead."

Alex: "I don't think it's going to be a cagey game. I think it will be open on Saturday. If we do our jobs we'll have a great chance of winning."

Alex: "Bradley Johnson will travel up and be part of the group. He will be with us for both games, it's important that we're together as a group."

Alex: "Tony Andreu has found the physical side of the game difficult. That's something he can improve though, so he could have a role betwee now and the end of the season, and then certainly next season."

Sebastion Bassong's bit :-

Seb: "I belong to Norwich City so at some point I had to come back - better sooner than later."

Seb: "I'm really happy, and thing are going really well. We're fighting for a promotion, that's the best position we could hope to have been in."

Seb: "It's good to work with a manager like the boss. He's really passionate and he knows what's he's doing. He's really straight, really demanding - I think that is good."

Seb: "It's nice to play with Russell, we have a good understanding. It's a leader so it's easy to play alongside hin."

Seb: "I played with Eidur Gudjohnsen at Spurs and he's been a good player. He's the kind of the player who can make a difference in the game."

Seb: "It's very interesting this season. The league keeps us on our toes and it's going to be like that until the end of the season."

Seb: "We've got to perform in every game. If we're all at it, we've got a big chance."

Seb: "When the manager first came here he said straight away that what happened in the past has happened. He said I would get my chance, and I took it."

Seb: "The Championship is completely different to the Premier League. It's a totally different world and I took a while to adapt."

I am hoping to see

                 Ruddy

Whits  Martin  Seb  Olsson

                Tettey

Howson Wes Dorrans  Redmond

                  Jerome

Vadis plays more centrally and would break up the influential Dorrans / Tettey partnership which has dominated midfield and given us a real platform.   Redmond left he has played last season and for england this and minimises disruption from the norm.     We could start redmond right but that means shifting the rest of midfield along and I think Dorrans should remain central,   he is not really a left midfielder.

For me O'Neil is the only viable alternative to Redmond - but again means accommodating Dorrans out left.

Despite the angst over BJs suspension its great that we have such strength in depth that we can debate 3/4 options to reshape without severely impacting the team.

Grind out three more points please city :)

Not Wes in a flat four though? And still never sure about Wes and Redmond on the pitch at the same time.

I think pretty much the same starting lineup as last time,  most likely Oneill taking Dorrans place centrally and Dorrans being played on the left ( I think I have read he can play there)

Pretty sure Redmond will start. Bolton like to go all out at home and I expect he'll have a lot of joy.

Wes and Redmond in the same team away from home though?

We're gonna win 5 - 4.

Seriously though, with Tettey, Howson, Dorrans and just one striker it should be fine. Bolton aren't Real Madrid.

Hmmmm, not so sure. Not really the time to be throwing caution completely to the wind away from home, first and foremost we should aim not to be getting beaten.

Bolton are no mugs at home.

i think we're really underestimating bolton. Lennon has worked wonders on a tiny budget over there.  Agree with Morty that we have to make sure we don't lose the game (I swear there's a little Chris Hughton in my brain),so I definitely wouldn't start with Redmond. Bolton don't have much to play for but they're not going to roll over.

          Ruddy

Whitts Martin Bassong Olsson

Howson Tettey Dorrans Vadis

             Wes

            Jerome

I'm not convinced Dorrans can play on the left wing, as it would make us very very central. Vadis could give us something Bolton won't be able to predict. This has to be the biggest team selection dilemma since AN arrived imo, It'll be interesting to see which option he goes for. But this is the man who can do no wrong, so i'll have faith in whoever he chooses!

The industry of dorrans and tettey can ensure that redmond and wes can work.  Redmonds pace will be an asset and while boltons home form is strong I have to fancy us against anyone at the moment as long as we are up for the game; the attacking options together with our grit means the three points can be won.

Defensively we will need to remain focused and I have more concerns with the movement off heskey around martin than anything else - if tettey is on the ball we can scrape the win.

Practically today is simply about out-performing Watford and Middlesbrough. Whilst keeping in touch with Bournemouth would be nice, at the moment we have what we want and its about not losing it.

Watford are away to Millwall, so if they win, we need to win by at least the same margin. Even if we were to beat Bolton 1-0 for example, a 3-0 win for Watford would see them displace us on Goals scored

Middlesbrough of course are only a point behind. They play Rotherham at home, which ordinarily you would expect them to win comfortably - we cant allow them to gain any ground obviously.

With us being above Watford only on GD its still not quite in our hands - we will need to watch their scores. We could win today but Watford could still realistically overtake us.

Got to expect Watford and Boro to win, so we need to do the business.

A favour from the relegation scrap would be most welcome though!

It is totally in our hands. If we win more points and keep up a better GD there's nothing Watford can do about it.

Nope!  But from what I've seen from U21s he looks like our best bet.  Whoever replaces Johnson, it'll will be something new. So I think Vadis has a good a chance as anyone

Defo need 3 points to stay in 2nd. I can see one of Boro and Watford dropping points but not both,

I was right, that doesn't happen much.

Also Grabban on the bench. Great.
