Everybody up here raves about him (Barnsley area),the last one a few days ago when I got talking to a taxi driver who couldn't understand why we didn't use him.

Derby seem to be spending a fortune though, apparently spent £3m on Shackell, who whilst a very good player is 32 now! Tom Ince £6m, Darren Bent's wages, Andreas Weimann.

Kinda makes a mockery of FFP doesn't it? This is a team with no parachute payments spending like a Premier League side.

Well if theyre throwing money around, how much do you think it would take for them to get BJ?

FFP is averaged over several seasons isn't it? Either Derby have made big profits for a couple of years so can afford to overspend this year, or they are gambling on going up this season but will be f*cked if they don't.

Or the QPR fine compromise has completely undermined the system and they will use that as legal precedent when they get a penalty (e.g. if QPR can pay between £5m to £10m as a fine, then pro-rata our fine should be just £2m, etc).

I hope we don't sell Bradley Johnson this season to be honest, lets stick with shifting the fringe players who just won't get any minutes at all, the Lafferty's, Andreu's, Elliott Bennett's.... we are using Johnson at the moment, even if its just as a sub to try and shore things up at the end to protect a lead.

Can't see Johnson leaving myself, although £5m would be a great price if he does leave.

I believe FFP was relaxed quite a bit this year.

Even if he is a bit of a fringe player now we wouldn't sell Johnson.

I think its the QPR compromise which has undermined it, people see QPR being able to negotiate a penalty which is under 20% of the amount that they should have got, and suddenly teams just think they can budget for the fine.

If QPR got an £8m fine when they should have got a £50m fine, for overspending by something like £70m, then Derby are just going to think "OK then, well if we overspend by £20m, then our fine will only be a couple of million". Easy to see why a team just sees it as a risk worth taking considering the rewards on offer.

Makes a complete mockery of the system though. They could have held QPR to account and hit Fernandes in the pocket, instead they now have a system with no teeth, where the fines are negotiable!

I believe he got the most assists in the Championship last season so it doesn't surprise me he's going for 4 million. He's was never really given a chance here. He was young and recovering from injury when he arrived, so what did people expect?

He was also an attack minded player, the manager didn't like those.

When he signed the Barnsley manager labelled him the new Gascoigne. Consequently, I was very disappointed to see him as such a marginal figure.

Do we just over-hype our players? (even thought that didnt come from us)

I think he was a Lambert signing, subsequently not in the Hughton mould.

That's what I tell Barnsley fans when they ask me why he didn't get a go.

He didn't get a go because we had better players.

I've also heard the words "disruptive influence" used about him while he was here.
