McGrandles is clearly one for the future so I can't see him coming in because someone is going out. Having said that I think Surman will be off as he clearly wants regular football.
According the Adams McGrandles will have a first  team player number and be with the first team. Once the registration is approved he could even be immediately selected. In maturity/experience terms he is ready and, despite his rather beanpole appearance, he is fully able to hold his own in the physicality of the central midfield. Great prospect, other players told NA, and he could be played immediately!

From what is coming out of Carrow Road it sounds as though he will be a direct competitor for Wes. A place that has needed filling for a couple of years now. I did believe Butterfield was going to be that person, but maybe his injury was too bad, in which case, why did we buy him?
I think that he could indeed be a competitor for Wes, but he is 18 and Wes is getting on a little. There is no other real competitor for Wes with a similar touch and ability, not Howson or Surman, who could play in the advanced position. NA let slip that after a training session one of the players came over to him and said something like "You've got a footballer there!"

In which case this is good news:

  • An immediate replacement for Wes if he is injured.
  • Competition for Wes, to keep him on his toes.
  • Eventual replacement when Wes has had enough, and certainly one for the future. He seems to be be talented, and has played with Falkirk first team over 80 times in two years. He must be pretty fit.
