I feel a bit left out of the music gig thread (it made me realise how few gigs I've been to actually, have never fancied doing a festival so that leaves me at a disadvantage!).
I've probably been to see more standups than I have bands in recent years.....
This year I saw Micky Flanagan at Sheffield Arena, my wife got me into him and I'm glad she did. Got enough laughs out of it to justify the ticket price.

Also this year I saw Jimmy Carr at Sheffield City Hall. Actually thought it was pretty mediocre, probably just far too familiar as he's been around too long and all over the telly for years, comedians become a bit predictable and samey I think. Just considered it one ticked off the list and wouldn't bother seeing him again (ps. you realise how much slap he puts on his face when you see him in real life).
I was gutted to hear that Lee Evans was retiring recently as I've always wanted to see him live, turned down the opportunity to see him a couple of years ago because the seats were the cheapies and if I go to see a comedian I don't want to end up watching it on the big screen (could buy the DVD and do that in the comfort of my own home!). Now I wish I'd taken the ticket, although I suspect he'll have a comeback tour in a couple of years like they usually do.
I'd quite like to see Frankie Boyle too. Liking him is a bit of a guilty pleasure, I simultaneously dislike him as a person but find him amusing at the same time. That would probably just be box-ticking too, but I'd definitely go and see Micky Flanagan again.
Any standups you've seen in recent times or would like to see?
