Haven't been all that impressed with him since he left Birmingham. He'll do a job at this level though for sure.

Depending on his mindset I think he could be a good squad player here. At a couple of million quid I don't think this could go too wrong for us.
Would have preferred the Leicester boy though.

He'd suit Adams' attacking style well. Bit worried about the lack of goals though.

He'd get a few, plus we have Hooper and Grabban that can be the main goalgetters. If Jerome can win a few headers and ruffle a few feathers then bang in 5 or 10 then jobs a good'un. I want to see us score more cheap goals this season. You know, when we can't break the opposition down through Wes and co we lump it up to Jerome who keeps the ball away from the keeper and defenders and Grabban or Hooper scuff home from 5 yards. We've missed them since Holty left!

Very pleased if he was to join us, think we're looking a bit short up top still and he will really put pressure on whoever starts. He would've been handy to have in the prem, let alone Championship.

As long as this is a Becchio replacement rather than a Hooper replacement then I'd have no complaints.

He'd be a great partner for Hooper. His pace and energy along with his ability in the air would allow Hooper to focus on getting into good positions and scoring goals. Hooper's only real physical attribute is that he is quite strong for his size so he really needs a partner to get the best out of him.

Could we really keep Jerome, Hooper, Lafferty, Grabben and Loza happy and match fit? Can't help but think Hooper will be out the door if Jerome signs.
I'm not criticising his effort, but Hooper didn't look to me like he wanted to be here much in the last couple of months of last season, I'd be surprised if he's still here in September.

Maybe. But he's more likely to be satisfied with being 4th choice than any of the other 4 to me. It's a tough job keeping players who aren't playing happy.

The deal is now dependent on the 28 year-old striker agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. His transfer would end a troubled three-year stay at Stoke which included a season-long loan spell at Crystal Palace in 2013/15. A fee of £1.5m represents a fair return for a player costing around £4m from Birmingham City three years ago and with only 12 months left on his current contract."

Maybe the plan is to play 3 forwards more often? With Lafferty and Grabban both capable of playing as a wide forward rather than as a traditional winger, and both utilised as such in games already, you could conceivably see a game where Jerome plays up top flanked by the other two.
I don't think it will be as hard to keep all these forwards happy if we are not replacing our traditional wingers like Snodgrass and Pilkington.

I get the impression Jerome is a streaky player and if eye gets an early goal or two could be a real asset. Equally his return for Stoke has been pretty poor so who knows what we will get?
Certainly adds to the impression that Neil is trying to build a physically very imposing squad, which if we are to get out this league at the first time of asking is probably sensible. Grabban and Lafferty both have height and strength too, and although O Neill isn't big he can be physical when needed
