Any Football Manager Players?

Surprised nobody has started a Football Manager thread until now to be honest, I think talking about FM is a bit taboo on football forums - but we have a gaming section here!

I've been buying FM on the PC for about 16 years (and its predecessor Championship Manager),every single year without fail - although play it much less than I did as a kid of course. They seriously need to get rid of that thing which tells you how many hours you have played, as a kid I was proud to get the "don't forget to shower" tagline, much less proud of that as an adult.

I was thinking about adding a few FM14 (and later FM15) files to the downloads section if there is a few people interested?

I love it too...and like you been playing it in all it's incarnations since I was a kid.

Problem is that nowadays I have a proper job, which sort of expects me to give it60+ hours every week! Leaves. Leaves very little time to do FM justice!

Iv actually managed to beat my addiction. Been clean for over a year now (dont know if FM do key-rings). Dont know why I lost interest really. Suppose I began to doubt how much how I did was really reflective of what I did. Once you begin to doubt your success is a direct reflection of your actions it all kinda seems pointless. I mean its pointless anyway, as are all computer games, but you can at least find it entertaining and satisfying. I cant explain why after 15 years of total addiction the game suddenly became devoid of meaning. I read a few reviews by people who understood programming and match engines and the like, and the house of cards toppled for me. Am I a happier person now I dont play it? I dont know... Flirted with it a few months ago but just didnt care. Perhaps Im depressed...

I've been playing this for years, can't remember when I started exactly but I do remember playing Championship Manager as Wigan when Roberto Martinez and his two Sanish colleagues first went there-that was in 1995. Now I only have enough time to play about 3 seasons before it's time to get the next version!

I really want to give it a try, but my laptop is so basic I worry that it won't run it.

I gave up playing about 5-6 years ago I'd say - for the sake of time management. Far too addictive, and far too tempting for someone who works from home.

Closest I get these days is the cut-down version on the iPad, which helps fill a  void, but is far too easy, which probably makes it less addictive to me.

played fm/cm from the very first instalment back on the amiga 600 if i remember correctly and then there was cm italia as well. Love the series got hooked instantly after playing premiership manager before on the amiga. Although i love the series still today, it somehow doesn't hold the same apppeal to me as those early versions, maybe it's just because i'm getting old (am old)  :) or perhaps it takes me so damn long to get through a season now as my pc is so slooooooow. Anyway fantastic game and one i have spent far to many hours playing from day 1  ;)
