Can't think of anyone any good that would actually come here, I'd like Gary O'Neil but no chance he'd be interested

O'Neil was keen before they decided to go with Manning.

But he might have another iron or two in the fire with other jobs that are available or are about to become available.

Derek McInnes. Would never happen though. Seeing as well still be paying the wages of Thorup and Manning it will have to be somebody out of work so we’re not paying compensation

He was there for us at the milk cup
Even when we sold him, the sale paid for one of our stands

Has an excellent record in this division. Maybe not other divisions but in this one he does.
I think he would definitely take the job.
I agree Gary O'Neill is great but looks like a long way from being a realistic option. I think when you're scraping at the bottom an old head will get you out of trouble.
I'm not saying he's the guy that to gets us promoted.
But I do think he would have enough about him to get us out of trouble

I'm a big Bruce fan. Always watch out for his teams even today. Plus he and Watson were the best centre half pairing I've seen at the club and that's mad given it's 40 years ago!
I can't see Knapper going with him though as he will be seen as 'old school'. Would be very interesting to see him try with this group though.
Feel similarly about Martin O'Neil. But the ship has sailed I reckon and should never go back.
Of all managers out of work I would prefer Carrick (I think) as he has actually done okay in this division, plus he had a lot of experience under Ferguson. Seems level headed and not an idiot. But maybe some more names will be linked soon enough.

Unfortunately there's not much about the current setup to give you confidence they will get the right person for the job.

Manning never felt like the right fit. I was a bit more open minded when we got JHT simply because I knew very little about him. But when we opted for Manning it left me feeling a bit "meh".

And the difference in style between JHT and Manning makes me wonder how clear a vision they have.

But every decent paid job in football has a list of candidates a mile long so they'll have plenty to choose from.

GJP, I am right with you there. Would you seriously trust Knapper and Zoe Webber with their recent involvements and track record to find someone to do a good job cleaning the dressing rooms or cutting the grass at Colney?

I'm a big fan of the Leeds United manager.
Aren't we all but if Leeds sack him, he wouldn't consider us with this useless squad and L1 beckoning. Going back never a good idea. Can Knapper be trusted again? Hopefully all the fan outrage will force him out and an experienced manager can then have carte blanche to save us from relegation using the loan market in January.

Martin would seem highly risky. If they are at all in tune they will know he very much divides opinion.

Would seem an unnecessary risk at this point.

Please not Russell Martin. As much as I liked him as a player he’s even more tactically inflexible than the last two, and we haven’t got the players to try and play his stupid tippy tappy football on the edge of our own box
I'm with you in this. Liked his playing days but he seems to have become too big for his boots, is wedded to one system and won't deviate. He got it right at Southampton because he had technical players (and Piroe helped).
If we should go for him we tip tap merrily towards relegation with 70% of the possession.
I guess he will be an option. Of those listed I still prefer GO'N. I'm unsure Carrick would come nor Will Still. I posted here before he would have been my choice last time yet he went to Southampton. Have followed his career with some interest.
Whoever it is though we have to give it everything now don't we. It's got to be all in from us as fans.
I'm not confident in Knapper though have been reading that this time there is to be a lot of oversight ovwr his recruitment.

John Dahl Tomasson is an interesting one, was doing well at Blackburn and left over transfer promises that didn't happen

I don't really know enough about him to make a decision. Are we looking for a surer thing though? Someone, firstly, to keep us up, but also to drive us forward.

We need to stop this merry go round.
