Looks like Manning still here then.

Am going to assume that Schlupp unavailable, which is a shame as I think he has been decent the last few.

I want to see something that resembles the team that finished the other night, not the one that started. I want 4 at the back and I want Kvistgaarden up front with Josh. Proper 4-4-2 football.

And despite all the guff about forcing any kind of issue, I'd really like to see us win. I am of the opinion that Manning finding a way to do this is the best outcome for everyone.

Agreed, I’d rather win with Manning than lose without him. I still think we’d have a better chance of staying up with somebody else, but I don’t think we’ve got a top half squad whoever is in charge

We're desperate for a left back, I don't want Kenny to play there as I thought he was one of our better players Wednesday, even if it was a low bar. McConville perhaps?

McConville is shite though lol.

Unfortunately makes it more likley that Manning goes back to 3 CB's.

Oh yeah I'm sure he will but who plays on the left ? Schwartau or Jurasek won't be tracking back to help out

Thought we were not playing too badly, seemed to be slightly in control then those stupid subs. I am thinking whilst watching, that this was a deliberate attempt to throw the game, manning certainly weakened us there

That sub bringing on a defender for an attacker, at 1-0, cost him his job.

I couldn't believe it in real time. He was attempting to shore up the defence maybe on the left (additional cover for McLean? If so, that didn't work!
Felt it was a terrible decision because the crowd had become energised when we scored (nearly a second) and we were at home, in the bottom three and needed the points. Why not keep the shape or as someone like Lambert or even Farke might have done, add an attacker. Give us an outlet as a way to tie up the opposition rather than the opposite - to invite them onto you.
Pretty much he was a big influence on us losing this game.
What a waste of almost 3 months it's been. And is it too late? Hopefully we can do a Derby (who looked shit at the time) and win 3 in a row. New manager bounce is what we can hope works.

So its all going to get better now? Right?
It can’t get any worse. Worst case scenario is the new bloke is as bad as Manning and we carry on as we are now.
I think we’ll improve slightly, but I don’t think this squad is anything but bottom third. Hopefully we can do slightly more than three others and stay in the division

You have to assume so. We are bottom of the form table (though over 5 games Portsmouth have taken the same points (i.e. 1) but shipped in a couple more). I don't remember a worse run than what we've seen. We are making records that are national and not just in our own history.

The players are also part of the problem. And I don't think they are anything special. But...I've seen three or four other teams who've looked equally poor but yet somehow we've managed to lose to them. It's got to change hasn't it?

Easy as ever to think a new manager changes everything. But a reset is definitely required and the group need something new. If we can end the season 4th from bottom it will be an achievement, depressing though it sounds.

All things though are relative.

We don't have to improve that much, Oxford and Pompey can be caught. I might be clutching at straws but a half decent run and we can be mid table

I agree with this. We're not that adrift.

I don't agree FF. And I've made a post on the Pinkun (under the Roeder thread of all things) showing just how tough it will be. Looking at our fixtures in approximate 5 game phases (say over a calendar month) then even if we get close to 2 points a game (say 9 points of a 15 maximum possible) then we would be in a better place but still below a point a game. That's nailed on relegation. It would need two lots of 5 game hauls of 9 and 10 points (which is promotion form 2ppg) then we are starting to become a lower mid-table team at that point. One quite capable of being dragged back in.

I believe we would need a solid run of 4 or 5 wins on the bounce to have any chance this season. I just don't see us doing that. I think we have to bake in our expectations for relegation. I think it's odds on. I never give up hoping by the way but I'm trying to be realistic rather than look at all this as a fan. If I do that I think we are going to win every game!

I am pleased Manning has been relieved of his terrible time here but the penny dropped for me a few weeks ago. I was desperate for change then and not now. It is better late than never but still it is late. Someone posted that you don't leave your roof leaking to ruin your whole house, you try and mend it at the least, even if the new roof has to be installed later. The club has let it continue to rain in. I thought the metaphor was apt. I actually think it's a form of negligence and the SD should be held responsible to be honest with you.

But I don't think Oxford and Pompey for example will be getting two points a game, we just need to do better than them

Really hope you are right FF. That is a more comforting thought and not one I had even considered (thumbs up emoticon). Have been depressed about the whole thing for weeks now so I've been readjusting my own expectations along the way. Maybe having some hope isn't a bad thing as long as there's not too much!

Well there it is!

The worst possible appointment finally bites the dust.

Who on earth at Norwich thought that Manning would be anything other than an unmitigated disaster!

Manning knows one way to play! Plan B is do plan A better.

1.25m to bring him and his dross mates to Norwich, lord knows how much his contract is and for how long he will sit it out, and the transfers in.

A very expensive mistake by someone.
