Norwich City vs Manchester City (Home) Saturday 14th September.

Literally like so many I still haven't properly comprehended what I saw yesterday. Never, ever in my wildest dreams did I think we could get all 3 points. Genuinely felt myself welling up at the end of the game. Words can't even begin to express what a fantastic, amazing performance the lads put in, and I just couldn't be prouder if I tried.

Easy to forget but this Manchester City side are arguably the best team in Premier League history. In the last 2 seasons they've recorded the two highest points total in Premier League history, including a haul of 100 points for the first ever time. They're also one of, if not, the best team in the world right now. Before today they'd won 17 and drawn 1 of their last 18 games. This is comparative to a newly promoted team (ravaged with injury) beating the Arsenal invincibles in their prime. Absolutely astonishing achievement. Undoubtedly one of our best ever Premier League wins.

I could honestly write a dissertation of the performance yesterday. I have just never seen one like it, and I also don't think I have ever been so engrossed in a game that I just can't take my eyes of it for a second. Edge of the seat stuff for 90 minutes and just an amazing game from our perspective.

But yeah, absolutely f*cking fantastic effort from our players, especially considering our injury situation. Probably the best defensive performance I've seen from a Norwich team. Throwing ourselves in front of shots, working so hard off the ball, winning every header that came into our box, clearing the ball time after time after time. The concentration levels of our players were just immense, just could not ask any more of them. A legendary performance that I'll remember til the day I die. As I said I genuinely don't think I've properly got my head around it yet.

As for the players, every single one of them was amazing. I was impressed with Byram in pre-season and thought he'd be good back-up for Aarons. I never expected him to have Raheem Sterling in his back pocket on his debut, so much so that Guardiola made him switch sides, and he didn't have much more success against Lewis either, if any. But yeah, Byram was sensational. Ibrahim Amadou though. Wow. What a f*cking colossal display from him at centre back. The guy is an absolute beast and bossed it at the back today. So pleased that our injury crisis at centre back isn't necessarily going to be as big an issue as I thought it would be. Godfrey as well as usual was amazing. I said after the West Ham game that Buendia really needs a kick up the arse a little bit, and he looks as if he well and truly got that over the international break. Yesterday was exactly the type of performance I want to see from him, just so influential. What more can you say about Pukki. Inch-perfect pass for Cantwell's goal and got on the score-sheet yet again. I mean I could go into detail and praise every single player forever but I'll just leave it as everyone on that pitch was a hero. To play the way we did as well, with the passing out from the back and genuinely trying to hit City on the counter was so bold from Farke, and holy f*ck it worked. Just can't get over it man what an amazing, amazing win.

Sorry for waffling on haha, but like everyone I'm just so f*cking happy. What a day to be a Norwich fan. Just when you think this team can't surprise you any more, they go and do something like this. I love every one of them.

As for the atmosphere, I don't think I've ever heard anything like it at Carrow Road. Every tackle, every clearance, every saved being roared. All 4 stands on their feet constantly singing and supporting the boys despite wave after wave of Manchester City attacks. I've just never seen anything like it at Carrow Road. The scenes at the end were just sensational.

Whatever happens this season, even if we do go down, this will always be a 'special night' as Daniel Farke called it. Fact of the matter is though if we show that much fight and play anywhere near that level throughout the season it's going to be a very good campaign. F*cking love this club. OTBC

Couldn't put it better myself. The magnitude of this win cannot be over stated, we just beat the best team in the world. With 8 first choice players missing. In a game where we were odds on to lose, even without injuries.

Never seen anything like it and never seen atmosphere at the Carra better than that.

Manc were forced to push the ball to the wings rather than through the middle. This resulted in our full backs concentrating on defence first rather than their usual attack first.
Manc's goals did come from a couple of crosses but obv they were restricted greatly from scoring their normal hatful of goals.
Anyone else sober enough on the day to assess this change of tactics?

I'm not sure that playing this way will work against Burnley who like to get the ball down the wing to launch crosses in anyway.

The obvious questions are:-

It took huge injury list to tweak the tactics, would it have worked against West Ham or Liverpool had it been tried earlier?

Is Farke now going to alternate slightly between styles in games to come or was it just for Man City?

Have we seen the start of an adaptation of our play, where the team adapts mid game depending on how its going?

All these things are a shift from where we have been, be interesting to observe what they do with each team going forward. This week is a good example of differing styles we will face, Man City / Burnley will surely require different tactics?

I think just the fact that Farke's pre game analysis was enough to beat Man City gives me enough confidence that we aren't some kind of one trick pony. We played pretty much the same every game last season, because we were just better than most teams.

Amadou at DM could be a game changer, but obvs we need CB's fit so we can play him there.
