Qpr agree £8million fee for Fer

What we all have to remember is we have lost £50 million in income and so getting rid of our biggest earners will be the norm. So all the board crap about replacing with better quality ,not needing to sell ...etc just makes them seem more incompetent.

We saw our first choice midfield on Saturday (perhaps with the addition of Howson). Fer would have started if he was staying.

Fer is nothing more than a modern day mercenary footballer.

I can accept players leaving, it's all part of football. What annoys me is the bullshine that comes out of the club. If they had at least admitted he was on his way it would have opened up better options than QPHa for Leroy - benfica were interested I believe

The way I see it, we've made a swap - Fer for O'Neil - and made some decent money on the trade. I'd prefer to still have Fer, but it's not the worst business the football club has ever done.

I just hope the QPR medical shows up the same dodgy knee that the Everton one did a few years back....

If it was between QPR and Benfica I think he'd have probably picked QPR.

I think if people lose it over that then they need to cool it a bit. As far as we know, there's been a development in the situation. What he said at the time could have just as easily been true. Let's wait and see what happens to this cash before we jump on him. Two new arrivals are supposedly now having medicals, so he's got a plan for replacing Leroy I'm sure.
Yes, I think we all knew he would be going. I think the "lackey" theory is totally unfair. Player transfers are dealt with a board/Chief Exec level at all clubs surely, so I don't see Adams being undermined in that way at all. While I am still to be convinced by Adams as a manager what I don't like is him being demonised, and the effect on fans morale at a time when we actually won a game!

Had enough Hughton hatred last season to last me a lifetime!

Thing that annoys me most about this is the fact it's QPR.

They are such a tinpot club, with a cartoon character as a chairman and manager, ground holds 17k and their fans are muggy west london wannabes with massive delusions of grandeur

You are aware of course that if given a choice of (probably) doubling their money and moving to London, pretty much every member of our squad would be off. As I'm sure would you if you were offered a ton more wages for doing the same job. To use this as an insult is a little silly in my opinion.

He didn't ask for a move or throw a strop or refuse to play.

How is he a mercenary???  Ridiculous comment

I didn't want to lose Fer, but this is good business. If we have got £10 million for him, which is by far a club record fee for a sale, then it's hard to turn that down. I don't blame Leroy, we have no idea if he asked to leave, but if the club accepts an offer for you, you have to explore it and when offered a better level of football and more money, most would be off. I think QPR will get relegated, but that's not the point.

I also don't blame Adams, as far as he was aware yesterday no deal had been agreed, as Fer was training with us, that is 100% the truth. He said anything can happen, so he must have been made aware of the interest and a bet coming in. So he didn't say anything wrong and he's dealing with a difficult situation.

Finally I don't blame the board for anything they've said this Summer. Making sure buying teams know we don't absolutely have to sell has meant getting good money for both Snoddy and Fer (reported),you can't go into the Summer saying we're going to lose players.

The key thing for me will rest on what they actually do with the money. Cuellar on a free and Jerome in for £2 million isn't enough. They'll need to do more to satisfy the fans.

And I guess.... Although a great character, "sexy international world cup scorer" and so on, I think we will do okay without him. Not really suited to the Championship and I am not sure he would fit in that well with our set up. I'm sad in the way I was when Ricky went, more upset about what might have been whereas in reality his performances did not not match up to the hype either. Love Leroy but he's a little hit and miss, or else he would be at Man City or Barca. That's my positive spin on it anyway.

I'm pretty happy with those two signings and the three we have already made. I do hope we push the boat out a bit and bring in a top quality right sided wing back and perhaps a replacement for Pilks. I wonder if we would be in any position to take Byram of Leeds.

Adams stating last night that Fer was in our squad for 'tomorrow's match' may just have pushed QPR into increasing their offer from £8m to £10m

My thoughts exactly. There's a lot of cat and mouse/mind games that are going on. The thing that has pleased me this transfer window is that we are clearly no push over but if the price is right we will sell.

I don't think any fan can argue with that really.

Hmm, I'd still rather we took the gamble in keeping him, but I see the business sense. All in all as a fan, i'm nowhere near as confident about promotion now though.

Also with Howson still injured, was it too much to ask QPR to let us have him for tonight at least?

I guess we have got Tettey and Johnson to start and O'Neil to come on if needed. Surman too if he's staying put.

10 mil is good business and about right for me.  It makes me laugh people bandying about what he \ she \ manager \ board said at any given moment as gospel. Surely if you have been following football long enough you know not to take anything at face value.  Its all smoke and mirrors with a lot of posturing to make sure you have the upper hand.

Just remember that the board \ manager end result is always to try and achieve what's best for the club, rather than getting caught up in detail.  I'm quite impressed with Adams cute handling for a rookie manager.

Us keeping Fer or not will have no effect on the chances of us getting promoted this season for me.

Oh yeah, Surman, I guess he'll slot straight back in on the bench. It'd still have been nice to have Fer tonight as QPR don't have a game anyway. (Plus we could have made him forget to stretch so he pulled his hammy :p )
