Terrible first half of football but second half only one team deserved to win it. Quality goal from a player who is starting to look a real class act for us.

Also, we defend well throughout. Villa were crap but I thought Bennett and Bassong both did well.

Some promising signs I thought. Not a game full of quality but some dogged performances, notably mulumbu who shows good awareness to nick the ball, even if he is a bit slow. Classy finish from Oliveira and Brady really should have made it 2.

Was it though? Or just the half of football we really needed?

He played the team which fans said should have started against Barnsley, so at least he has recognised that too.

If I had to try and find another positive, that's 2 clean sheets in 3 games too after something like 15 without one.

Flabbergasted that it took Alex Neil so long to recognise that McGovern was a large part of the problem, but glad he got there in the end. If by some miracle we got out of this league this season then we need to finally invest good money in a goalkeeper, but Ruddy remains the best available option by far.

Will be interesting to see how he copes with 2 games in 3 days / 3 games in 8 days. If we fail to beat Huddersfield he'll either be criticised for not making changes or criticised for changing a winning team, whichever of those he chooses.

Don't really understand why Wes is struggling to even get on the pitch at the moment let alone start.
He started 5 games in 20 days and played 90 minutes in 4 of those games before this spell out of the team, and that's a hell of a lot of football for a 34 year old who has been a rotation player for 3 years, I did comment on it at the time and wondered what Alex Neil was playing at actually.

And we lost all 4 of the last 4 those games, and failed to score in 3 of them, so its not like putting him through that even paid off for us.

He was probably in need of a decent rest after playing so much football for us at the start of the season, after playing in the Euro's in the summer too.
