I dont have a problem with the subs, I think they were the best way to get something, just unfortunate. You want to blame something you only need look at the sending off.

I don't really want to hear how well we did in the circumstances. I am just so angry at O'Neill. Clubs can be relegated and Managers can lose their jobs through an incident like that and he cannot apologise for that, its beyond that. It is not acceptable. I couldn't care less if he doesn't get paid for the next three games, I'm so incensed.

I'm sure the subs will be slated but I doubt we'd have held on going defensive tbh.

Don't see why the subs would be slated. It was the right thing to do. Its not like he took off defenders for strikers. It wasn't what led to the goals.

What positives can we take?
Bottom line is that with 11 men we stood a very good chance of winning the game. These things happen sometimes, it's totally out of character and Gary has done really well for us past few months.

I think the overall performance was positive. I don't blame subs, but I think AN should have changed only one winger there and Jerome at that point of the game. Or if VOO was already tired replace him with another CM and put Howson on wing. We barely ever play with two strikers and wingers as we know what happens to our defence so why to play in draw situation when there is one player less in the field.
Our good performances has come trough blocking the middle so we should have continued with it. Anyway it was minor mistake from AN and probably tasted the blood and tried to get those 3 points from there, now it backfired and if it would have succeed I had praised him as a godlike creature.

Just back from the game and obv crazy by ONeill but just looked like a yellow to me, like when the Soton player made a couple of those sorts of challenges and both were yellows. Maybe it looked worse close up.
lots of positives tho, plenty of good individual performances and we easily could've got something out of the game. Stoke really didn't look very good and if we'd kept 11 men it was a game that could've gone either way
shane Wes couldn't hit the target when their keeper was caught out - that would've been a peach.

I think that despite the loss there were certainly some positives, as it was a decent performance. As for that challenge, yes it was a red, but I am a little surprised by the hysteria elsewhere and also at the time on the commentary, really weird thing to do by, up to that point, a player who has been such a professional for us since he joined. Great to see Jarvis back and Vadis is like having a new signing, oh and Rudd perhaps could have done better, but that's being picky. Keep Bournemouth quite for first 30 on Saturday and Iwwould expect the points.

Decent enough performance overall, even after the sending off, but ultimately once we went down to 10 the only thing we could do was sit back and defend, maybe nicking one on the break. Once Stoke took the lead (as others have said, Odjidja should've been stronger in the initial challenge and Brady's marking was poor) the floodgates opened a little bit, and despite a brief rest-bite with Howson's goal it was always going to be a difficult task to keep them out.
O'Neil has to take the full blame really. Fair enough it was just an out of character momentary brain fart, but it's cost us today. I would say we were the better team until that point, we were moving the ball around really nicely and looked threatening when we went forward. Second half, apart from the brilliant goal, we didn't really offer any threat, although I do think Neil got his subs right by bringing 2 pacey wingers on to try and create something, it was just a shame that 4 minutes later Joselu scored Stoke's 2nd and we couldn't come back from that. For us I thought Mbokani was excellent considering how isolated he was after the red card. Held the ball up brilliantly and was a handful for the Stoke defenders. Odjidja also caused problems, particularly in the first half and it's great to see him now starting games. The back 4 however, who have been so solid recently, probably collectively had their worst game for a while. I thought Bassong played quite well but the rest were average at best really, even Brady. Rudd made a couple of good saves and Howson's goal was an absolute belter.
The Bournemouth game now seems a whole lot bigger, especially as a defeat today felt quite unjust seeing as as a team we didn't do anything wrong, it was just the idiotic actions of one individual player that let us down. Win though on Saturday and we'll be 5 points clear of Bournemouth, and possibly 8 points clear of the relegation zone. Sunderland, Newcastle and Swansea face Tottenham, West Ham and Watford respectively, so you would expect them all really to drop points, so we will need to take advantage of that. That said this league is near impossible to predict this season, Leicester are in 2nd after all.

Idiotic by O'Neill and it cost us the game and probably a point.
But this midweek brings us far more positives overall with results elsewhere and a great effort from the team, Vadis with his best performance so far, Jarvis back, brady again solid on the left and a manager who will try and seize an opportunity. And what a goal. Rudd did well to keep us in the game with some good saves.
Negatives? I remain far from convinced by mbokani, first half especially was poor with limited mobility, improved in the second half but not great. And some fans over reaction. As bad as O'Neills tackle was the abuse he got was appalling, the comments of never playing for the side again totally disproportionate. Criticism of the manager for the subs?? Tactically it had merit but ultimately it neither worked but more importantly did not cost us the game either - weak defending did. And criticising Rudd? He was solid and had little chance with any of the goals; if we keep allowing him to face so many chances through lax defending he will eventually be beaten.
Move on, regroup, focus on the positives, recognise that stoke player wise are half a step up from ours (and more importantly bournemouths) and look to repeat last nights efforts on saturday. Do that and we will bring something home.
And dont beleive the hype that this is a MUSTWIN game; its preferable but not essential, a draw will be adequate.
