Decent enough player, but seeing as how we have more central midfielders on our books than any other position, I genuinely cannot see the point, nor is he good enough to displace any of the main contenders for a starting spot (or even a bench place for that matter) IMHO.

Please no.

Why are we targeting players who will be bought in to play as a left winger, who's first choice position isn't left wing, such as Alonso and Bannan? I don't get why we don't just sign a natural left-sided midfielder. Alonso tbf is a good player, but Bannan I wouldn't want anywhere near the team.

Bannan link is clearly made up.

Alonso seems to be relativity cheap and we could clearly use both him and Brady.

I thought Bannan was a bit of a Wes type? Am I thinking of the wrong player. We need an alternative to Wes, no doubt about that

No, you're thinking of the right player. Little, left footed, decent playmaker type.

I highly doubt we'll be bringing in another central midfielder, not in this window anyway.

As for that role we obviously have Wes, Hooper, Andreu [i think he'll be gieen a decent chance], Howson and various youngsters. Can't see it being a priority.

Although if we were given a chance to loan in Pritchard from Spuds I'd take that.

We've got plenty of power in midfield, I just worry that we're too reliant on Wes for creativity. O'Neil is probably our next most creative midfielder and cant see him being much in the set-up next season. Dont know how creative Andreu is, VOO seems more power than craft. Fer had the playmaking ability - we've not really replaced him in that sense

Both Dorrans and Howson are more creative than O'Neil. Vadis is the type that will power through from deep but I think he's technically alright and can pick a pass too. I think Mulumbu will impress you in this regard too.

Lazy journalism, we've been linked to half the Scotland squad this summer!

I don't think we will though. It seems far too much of a coincidence to me that the (rumoured) Alonso bid is put in a couple of days after Steve Bruce goes public saying they've rejected our latest bid for Brady.

Yeah, that was my first though.

Hope not though as I don't think I'd fancy Brady and Johnson down the left if Olsson were to get injured long term.

Oh God no,... this window is just getting more and more frustrating isn't it?

I hope this is unfounded.

Whilst i appreciate we're a small fish in a big pond, i expect us to be going after players of a higher caliber than this.

Plus, we've positions elsewhere that need strengthening first.
