Whilst I would wait a couple of weeks yet to see if they lower their asking price, I would still happily pay £7m for Brady. 23 years old so plenty of time to improve, and has a lot of potential. Left footed and has a very good delivery. I think he's the ideal player for us, and £7m is probably around about right in the current market.

One of the main reasons why I also think he's ideal for us, is because he can play left back just as easily as he can play left wing. If we bring him in we're essentially killing 2 birds with one stone, as we won't have to sign a left back who can cover Olsson, which after Garrido's departure is something we probably need.

I don't think his choice of position is really left back, am hearing that he has played as a wing back, but not really an out and out LB.

I reckon we'll meet the price, possibly today.

It's always easier spending someone else's money! Football fans and MPs speak of millions the way other folk speak of fivers. Largely because the millions are someone else's ans the fivers are our own.

Also, I am amazed that some people believe the amounts bandied about in the press but assuming for a moment that McNally did offer £3m then he did so for a reason. It might be what Brady is worth to City or what an agent has suggested or to get a counteroffer. It would not be to insult or to waste time. I am pretty sure McNally is not secretly 14 and equally confident he is following a business strategy and not trolling Hull

Agreed. Hence my comment in the van Wolfswinkel thread that if spending some time with RvW prevented a £4.5m loss Id find the time

But presumably he is then being moved from playing an important role elsewhere in the team. So who covers him?

My point being that I think we need a dedicated left back to deputise for Olsson. That said though, if Brady can play there as an option it might give the management team more confidence in that person being Toffolo, knowing if Toffolo struggles they always have another option.

We shouldnt be afraid of risking the youth though. Look at Southampton and in particular Luke Shaw. Yes you could easily say they had better players, but they needed an opportunity and Southampton had the stones to give it to them. Toffolo can only fail to make the grade if he is allowed to try

I don't think Toffolo would be part of the setup if they thought he was going to struggle.

Brady isn't really a left back.

Not that it means much but Toffolo was the one in that youth cup team that I thought would make it with us, even more than the Murphy boys or Morris. Always looked a couple of classes above and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Hopefully this could be his breakthrough season here.
