The rumours persist - and I loved the 'we're coming for you' song for him as he warmed up in front of the snake pit yesterday.

what do we think?  I will declare an interest and long-standing love for Naisy - he grew up a few miles away from me and started his career at Kilmarnock where he was a revelation as a kid.  He scored goals galore for us before moving onto Castle Greyskull to play for one half of the mould firm.  I think he is a class act as a player and as a person from all I hear and would love to see him here...although it could mean problems for Wes.

but am I letting history cloud my present judgement???

I'm with you, I think Naismith is a hugely talented player who would definitely add quality to our squad, the problem he's had is he's probably not quite good enough to be playing evey week for a club like Everton right now as a regular starter, with Lukaku, Mirallas, Deoufofeu, Barkley and Kone there its difficult for him to get a run in the side, anyone outside the usual top 7 teams, he'd get to play every week, the issue we could have is can we afford his wages, I'd like to think we could, if we were to go in for him I wouldn't be surprised if he loaned him for the remainder of the season with the option to buy dependent on whether we stay up or not, as I can't see him wanting to stay here if we were to go  down

Aside from wages the other issue for me is why would he even want to come here. I think we will find it really hard to attract players of his quality in January. It was difficult enough in the summer and January is never easy in the transfer market.

No-he is better than what we have at the moment.

But leaving remuneration aside, would we want to come here the way things are at the moment? He might end up on the bench a lot if we still go with sacrificing another forward player for keeping two in front of the defence. He could end up like Hooper, getting the last twenty minutes because we are losing and he is sent on to rescue something, all on his own.

Call me an old fool (yes, OK I know there's a queue) but I have never understood why 99% of managers, when losing with ten minutes or so to go, put on another striker, sometimes a CB moves up and they launch it forward. If they think that will bring a goal, why don't they do it from the start?

Would be ok signing him as he has prem quality;  however if funds are as limited as rumoured then I want us spending the money elsewhere first as our midfield is the strongest part of our squad - we do have goals in us if we didnt have to over compensate for the back 4

defenders and possibly a striker the prime purchases.
