Anybody else heard this? Apparently was a line in a tabloid, which probably makes the odds of it having any real substance fairly slim, but the Mulumbu injury does make me wonder, especially if its worse than we think. 

What do people feel about this? 

Personally I think in terms of talent he'd be a decent enough option on a one year deal, he'd be 2nd choice for the deeper defensive role under Tettey until Mulumbu returns. 

Is he still a complete w*nker or is he one of those players that you love when he plays for you but love to hate when he doesn't, like Grant Holt? 

He's stopped doing mental things like beating up teenagers, and we could always get Bradley Johnson to deck him if he plays up in the dressing room?

Personally I like Joey Barton the player, much more technically gifted than people give him credit for and you know he's always going to give 100%, obviously the worry is you just know that he's going to snap at some point and its normally because people know he has a short fuse he gets targeted by opposition players, I'd quite like to see him here to be honest it his wages are right as you know Alex Neil wouldn't put up with any crap from him, plus it could be fun to see him and Johnson in the same squad after their scuffle a couple of years back

Considering Neil turned down Lavirey because he didn't like his attitude, there's no chance he'd go in for Barton.

Well that was only speculation / guesswork, I think scrapping the Lavirrey transfer may have had something to do with the RVW deal collapsing the week before, or he was second choice and a deal for our first choice has come back on (who we hope to sign this week?).

Joey Barton has hinted that he could be signing for somebody this week.
