Linked with a swap with Celtic, Gary Hooper going to Celtic and Leigh Griffiths coming here.

A bit of deja vu?

If this is true I hope it is because we want Griffiths, rather than just wanting a means to get rid of Hooper. We don't need to be stuck with another Becchio.

Not sure if I think Hooper is better.. All I know is he has a do that the Ginger pele would be proud of

Don't know much about Griffiths but a quick look at the Celtic forum and they are praising his work rate on the pitch and saying that he is as good as Hooper at sticking the ball in the net.

I'm going to assume that he isn't quite as good as Hooper, who I think has underachieved here, but Hooper just doesn't look like he wants to be here so perhaps this would prove a mutually beneficial deal?

Celtic get their hero back, and we get a decent player who is willing to put in a shift for a manager who likes his strikers to work hard?

Still, the media have linked us to pretty much every Scottish international in the last couple of months so probably just made up by a journalist with some column inches to fill...

Hoopers strike rate at celtic was exceptional,  and if anything it appears to me that the standard of the SPL has fallen slightly since then.     As Griffiths isnt matching that level of performance I cant see him as clearly better than hooper - and hoops will struggle to have an impact for us in the prem,  as such so would griffiths.

As you say canaryboy the one thing in his favour is he does graft,  which suits our lone striker style so would be a far better fit to have sat on our bench than hoops.

Overall though its a no because I retain a wish to ensure that all signings improve on what we have rather than simply sign someone.

If they want Hooper, it should take Van Dijk to get him

Fully agree, and I have ZERO interest in us signing Griffiths from them either...

I think, if all this is to be believed, it is starting to have a slight aroma of desperation.     Some how I cannot believe all the names we have been linked with.  I think it is more a case of a journo drawing a name from as hat.    Out of them all I would like the lad from Wolves..

But priority must be a defender....
