All over Twitter at the moment that we're in for him, would be a good signing imo if true.

I don't really know, maybe I've just got cynical and spoilt on a diet of Premier League, but I've never really rated the guy. Doing the business at Celtic doesn't mean a great deal to me and I know he has previous good stats in the Championship, but I think the standard has gone up since he last played.

I'd be relatively happy with this, although the fee of £4m I'm seeing mentioned is surely a bit much.

To be honest, I was amazed when he left Derby for Celtic. I thought then that he would be good enough for the Prem but I suppose he had his reasons. £4 million does seem steep but when you look at the silly money paid for Snoddy and Shane Long, seems to be the way the market is at the moment.

Is english championship-football way better than scottish pl? I no reason to be underwhelmed, he does have champions league experience? Voted the scottish player of the year? Knows hooper well, and probably r.martin and whittaker too. Would be great for replacing pilks..

The Championship is very different to the Scottish Premiership where teams are seeded and the league is split in an attempt to make a 1 horse race seem a little more competitive. In contrast there will be about 12 -15 teams in the Champs in the race for promotion this season making pretty much every game a competitive one.

The finances in Scotland make it very difficult for any team up there to attract or hold on to decent players so there is a constant talent drain south. Perhaps if they go independent that will change :)

To be honest, I'm very much of the mindset that if the manager wants a player, and I back the manager, then I'll support it, so what will be will be.

Always thought he would be the sort of player we would sign. Top end championship level, possibly able to step up to lower end Prem like Snodgrass. This type of top champ/lower prem player is our market. Always thought he was decent, would be happy with this

I'd very much like to see Kris Commons come in. He's a quality player and versatile as well. He's a mate of Hooper and might help us hang on to him. I'd rate Commons on the same level as Snodgrass, so £4m, whilst high, is not unreasonable in this market. He can also play as an ACM and his signing could be the difference in promotion or not, IMO.

Would be an excellent signing, finally some competition for Hoolahan - anybody who thinks this would be a bad signing doesn't understand how many of Hooper's goals were set up by Commons at Celtic, scores more than Wes too.

He also scotched the Fer rumour?

Works both ways doesn't it?

Is disrespectful to talk about opposition players until you have had an offer accepted, Adams is right not to....

Fer out and Commons +£4M in? I'd accept that and a happier Hooper reunited with his mate. The new Ted and Charlie?

He was great when he was at Derby but got Crocked and was out for a while, has that injury troubled him at Celtic and does £4 mill sound a bit to much for a 30 yr old playing in Scotland?

Yeah £4m is a bit steep for a guy who will be 31 in a couple of weeks, but definitely a committed and creative player. It's a difficult call - if we get £8m for Fer and reinvest, say, half of it, do we go for 'young and hungry' players as per Lambert, or do we go for experienced players who won't be flustered by the Championship? O'Neil was a necessary and good signing, but with Hoolahan nearing the end of his career in the attacking midfield role, I'd rather see us bring in someone younger who we can develop to replace him than someone of advancing years who will likely be worth nothing at the end of his contract.
