If we could get him for £4/5m then I'd be pleased with that. A very good finisher, who ended up as Palace's top scorer last season with 10 despite not being a regular starter.

Quite different though to the other strikers we've been tracking, I can't see us suddenly turning our attention from target men such as Larrivey, Gestede and Mbokani to someone who's small and quick like Gayle.

I would be mortified if we paid £10m for him

I think if we're battling Bristol City for a player, we shouldn't be in for him!

Doesn't fit the system, never been impressed with him overall, and if there's only Champs level clubs genuinely interested then why the f**k are we looking???

Saw Gayle described the other day as an upgraded Simeon Jackson. Think that's about right. Would chip in useful goals and be a good option but not a regular starter. Sounds like Hooper said like that. I would be happy to see him in the squad in place of Ricky or Lafferty but he is not the answer to the gnawing need for goals.

To be fair he scored 10 goals for Palace last season when the majority of the time he was on the bench. He's a great finisher and if he gets more starts than he gets here at Palace then there's no reason why he can't get more than that amount. If Jerome could continue last years form then we'll have no problems scoring goals.

I'd be more than happy with 10 goals largely from the bench.

I really wouldn't be happy with this level of player coming in. I don't see that he is much different to Hooper

He's not exactly a superstar or a 'name'. But I suspect that would suit Alex right down to the ground....don't think he is one for prima Donna centre forwards!

He is much better than Bristol bloody City though!  Am surprised (and a bit suspicious) that a bigger club isn't after him.  Wouldn't mind him signing here  - I think he is better than most of  what we have and would be a decent (but slightly uninspiring) addition to the squad.   Put it this way....if it's Gayle or nothing, I'll take Gayle.
