I would like to see an unchanged lineup, I am hoping we have found a formula that plays to players strengths, its not the time to be tinkering.

I suspect the same formation will apply, I can bassong coming back if recovered from his knock.   Other than that stick with the same personnel

I do think this a game we can get something from.

I wasn't at the game ( and don't watch MOTD when we lose lol) but does Bassong deserve his place back?

I usually agree with you ZLF but because we're so use to failure now I can only see a Chelsea victory tomorrow.

He is clearly ANs first choice cb so would be surprised if he wasnt;   and while it was a decent performance from all three on sat it was far from error free with at least one scare from each and two from Ryan B including the goal.

If there are no changes I wouldnt be surprised either.

As for chelsea,  its a tough one as there are now in form and its still unlikely we will gain a point,  but our performances will earn something soon.

It seems that Bassong remains a doubt still, but if he is fit I personally would put him back in at the expense of Bennett.....why? Because he is the best defender we have even considering the ever improving Klose, and because he looks like he is going to give a penalty away at any time......many will disagree.

Gonna need a bit of luck. Performance against Leicester was encouraging but I still can't see us getting anything here.

Team:

Ruddy
Martin Bennett Klose
Pinto Howson Tettey Brady
Redmond Jerome Naismith
Same team that played on Saturday. If Bassong is fit I would bring him back in for Martin, but Neil will drop Bennett before he drops Martin I imagine. Hopefully we'll have Hoolahan back as well but I don't think Neil sounded that optimistic about it.

Gonna say 3-1 Chelsea. Think it'll be a good game.

I'd have Bassong back but wouldn't be surprised if not.

Looked to me like Bennett had lost Ulloa for the goal. Which is the big weakness in his game. He's fine when things are infront of him but when he's turning to face his own goal he lacks awareness. It could have been punished on other occasions this season if the opposition had found the right ball in.

I would concider dropping Jerome or Naismith. We lacked ability pass the ball with two midfielders and one of the reasons most of our counters ended without shot or cross.

Also not so sure same tactic will have good results against Chelsea. Costa is very different type striker than Vardy and Chelsea likes to cross the ball so the space behind wing backs can be costly.

Anyway as we had good game there is no harm to try same in this kind of game where we dont expect much. I would again bring Olsson ib and move Brady more forward position with Naismith or Jerome as lone striker. If Hoolahan is fit I just would replace Naisy with him.

Playing counters is useless if you dont have players who can find the space or beat their man to make that space.

12 minutes in and its clear to see the set up is wrong this time.

How long until AN realises?

One of these games... Clear backpass denied and clear offside goal for Chelsea

I think we can moan about the officials all we want but at the end of the day you make your own luck and that was a very poor first half performance, the back pass is hardly a big moment given we most likely wouldn't have got anything from the chance, as for the offside, why the heck in the last min of play from a throw in are we even trying to play the offside, just more bonkers defending again.

Yes, I know I'm being a tad childish and that Ed Balls doesn't influence team performance, but it's no coincidence that everything he touches mostly turns to shite.

Such a shame the side that beat Middlesbrough in that wonderful display at Wembley looked more than capable of holding their own in the Premier - yes, the defence needed strengthening and a couple of quality signings were required in the Summer (which didn't happen),but  Neil has lost a lot of credibility since that memorable day.
