I agree and think it would serve better purpose to use this opportunity to give recovering 'first teamers' like Howson and Hooper a run out, give 'nearly men' like O'Neill, Bennett and Whittaker etc. a chance to stay sharp in readiness and give new boys, Voo, Cuellar and McGrandles the opportunity to play competitively in the yellow.

The youngsters will have their day, and Adams should concentrate on the immediate needs of the league match-day  squad. It's a long hard Championship season ahead.

Ditto - this is a brilliant team, and if I'm not mistaken 11 changes from Saturday. And with Loza, Murphy and McGrandles on the bench, still plenty of options! :)

It just says to me that we have an amazing squad. Who would have thought it five years ago?

Sometimes part of me wants us to get knocked out of this competition early so we can focus on the league but this team contains a lot of new blood, youngsters and those returning from injury so it'll be really interesting to see how they perform. Lots of things to look out for - how Hooper and Lafferty perform together, Lafferty getting a goal and forcing his way back into the first team, whether Odjidja should be ahead of Tettey or BJ.

Normally I might agree, but Adams and his team have assembled an amazing depth in the squad and the cup is a chance for many players to get game time as well as young players getting a chance to play in the first team. This gives the cup a whole new dimension. Well done to everybody at the club for making this possible! OTBC!

Brilliant to see Howson and Hooper back. As well as the likes of Bennett, Miquel, and Odjidja-Ofoe.

Trying to find a link for the game but have been unsuccessful as of far.

Said on the radio that this is a 442 with Vadis on the wing but surely it's a 451 with Lafferty on the left, right?

Or a diamond with Benno at the tip.

I' have thought that Keiran. It'd be a much more natural formation. OTBC!

I would hope Howson is in the attacking CM role, have high hopes for him when Wes misfires as on Saturday.  OO and O'Neil presumably holding, Lafferty and Bennett on the wings.

Interesting that Hooper's getting a game, I suspected he was finished here with the arrival of Jerome.  Maybe it's shop window time.

It could only be a loan move and if we don't need to worry about paying his wages why not keep him. If any player loses his form for no reason its a striker and you can't have too many.

Huh, I presumed Hooper would be an important part of the team. Wouldn't be surprised if he eventually forced Grabban out of the 11.

Sounds like they will get one in a minute. Is this the usual ordinary first half performance that have been prevalent this season?
