It seems as though there are less gems being unearthed from League 1 and the smaller championship sides of late, specifically in the creative midfield positions.
With us having a bit of cash to spend, and (in my opinion) a need for one more creative/attacking midfielder following the likely departures of Fer and Surman, I wonder if it would be worth looking to the prem, and looking at a season-long loan (with a no-recall clause) for a young, fringe-player instead?
I appreciate loans can be hit and miss, but a young player, with something to prove, knowing where he is going to play for a whole season, might actually be less of a gamble than a £2-3m signing from the lower Champs?
