Another Young Winger

So we have signed another young winger in the shape of Conor McGrandles. I know very little about him other than he has come from Falkirk. I guess ol' three-lungs knows him well and had a big hand in making it happen!

Falkirks biggest ever fee for a player but I don't know if that means too much, never been a fan of this undisclosed fee business.

Problem is, how is this going to effect both the young Murphy's chances of getting pitch time, unless it is in preparation for the leaving of Redmond...

He can play anywhere across the midfield from what  people have said and I believe Falkirk fans said he is more of an ACM/No10, so it could be that he is here to replace Hoolahan when the time comes. Never seen him play myself but reading a lot of the comments so far he is regarded as a very good prospect.

It's very easy to forget that the schedule's a lot more intense in the Championship compared to the Premier League. Only four games into the season and we already have a number of injuries about. and there are also cup competitions to consider, something I would expect Adams to take quite seriously. I think there'll be plenty of chances for everybody to get game time and I get the feeling that starting 11s will be much less set in stone with Adams.

From NA's assessment he will play a part in the first team this season. He is training with them,(and impressing them). He is likely to sub for Wes, by all accounts. Exciting signing.

dont see having too many talented creative players as a problem.     If he gets in ahead of Murphy and redmond on merit then we have a bargain.

At the age of 18 he's had over 80 first team games in Scotland. So okay, it's hardly The Championship in temrs of quaity, but that's still a heck of a lot of experience under his belt at a young age.

The fee being quoted is 1M, but that was by the Daily Mail so read into that what you will...

I thought it was going to be a lot more than £1m after the comments of it being Falkirk's biggest ever fee and now they can go out and restructure their squad. Either way, definitely looks like a promising prospect if Prem clubs were watching him closely. Maybe catch a glimpse of what is about tomorrow, if its not considered too soon...

I think the club probably would change hands for the famous 'nominal' tenner if you took on their debts!

My brother lives in Falkirk...I'm never entirely sure who gets the worst end of that deal!

So from what you've posted most of that money will probably go into keeping the club alive rather than straight into the playing structure?

Well, I always take 'watched by Premier League clubs' with a pinch of salt- they watch hundreds of players. However, if young McGrandles has decent mental ability, the physical stuff can come later in strength and conditioning. Just how suited he is to that CAM role will depend on his ball control and decision making in tight areas.

From what little I know about Falkirk the club is being propped up by 'soft loans' from some of the directors, who take any transfer money to draw down their own exposure to that debt, on which they charge the club 5% interest per annum!

Falkirk fans are not optimistic that they'll ever see a penny of it on the pitch. However with rangers, hearts and hibs all in that league nobody expects Falkirk to have any chance of promotion so they are cashing in on their prized assets in a year where it won't necessarily, derail any promotion chances.

Also to return ever so slightly to topic, my brother does occasionally go to watch Falkirk and he reckons we have a great potential on our hands here. He says he is the best midfielder he has seen since he and I used to watch Craig Bryson (now of Derby) playing for Kilmarnock several years ago.

 I liked the way Adams pointed out in his interview that after training some of the older players came over to him and said "You've got a good one there". Great way to welcome a young prospect who's a long way from home!

Falkirk.  I was in a car accident there, late 60s. Hospital said I was okay,sent me back to my ship.One month later in Gibralter after suffering so much pain,was sent to the hospital,x-rayed, broken jaw in 3 places.Never did find out who ate my fish supper
