Can't help but feel that Gayle is only going to happen if Hooper goes. Of course we'd then still have to be in for another big forward. Only way I can see Hooper and a player like Gayle in the squad would be that if we're planning on going 2 up top fairly often.

After spending most of my life coping with supporting "Little Norwich" it is almost shocking to see the club being criticised for being too ambitious.

I've pretty much only heard how the club haven't been ambitious enough recently, by fans and national media.

I think the only actual criticism for the club I could give there was the speed at which they moved on to backup targets, if they had actual backup targets. Chancing of luck with bigger names/better players surely isn't a bad thing.

i'd rather we sign nobody than some of the second raters that have been named recently. Some are so desperate for a new face that they don't care who we get as long as we get someone.

Trust McNally, he will eventually come up with somebody who improves us.

Reassuring words Ricardo And you are obviously keeping the faith.

Agree we should not be signing for the sake of it, but the lack of success is becoming increasingly worrying as the window goes on.

People getting panicky over what was a rather unfortunate defeat last week. Still 39 games to go, its a long season.

Staying in the Premiership will always be a problem for a club of our size. Once you learn to accept that reality life becomes much easier. We may stay up for a season or two or even longer but we will always be in that group that everybody mentions when asked to pick the relegation favourites.

I realise that this may upset some people but the plus side is that life is seldom boring for City supporters.

Well that is my concern, our defence wasn't good enough last time and is virtually the same this time. Arguably weaker as Turner has declined and been replaced by Russell Martin, who is nowhere near as good as Turner was at his best for us. 

I'm not actually all that worried about strikers, I think we'll be fine for at least half a season with what we have. 

My big concern is that the club won't be strengthening the defence. To be more specific, I just don't think Russell Martin is good enough. 

This was a position that I've had from the moment we won promotion, has nothing to do with the Palace defeat (although its fair to say that he didn't prove me wrong).

Whittaker Martin Bassong Olsson 

Defence is pretty much the same and we shipped so many goals the last season in the premier league, it is a worry for me, not so much Bassong and Olsson but Martin and Whittaker imo shows a weakness

Whittaker will lose his place to Andre Wisdom. 

Its Martin who needs replacing now.

My panic is that I watched our defence get carved up numerous times last weekend yet we don't seem to be remotely interested in improving the back four.

The papers are only going with stories about attackers so there's certainly no interest from the club in strengthening at the bacl.

Dunno. I'm not convinced Martin's place is up for grabs/under threat and I think Whittaker is pretty underrated.

So far Wisdom feels like a "can do a job" type of signing and not a "this lad is the absolute business, I can't wait to get him in the team" type of signing.

Who knows though. It's early days. He could be in the starting line up at Sunderland in a few hours time.
