I'd prefer a 4-2-3-1 with Wes, but Adams may want to give him a rest. At 32, it's hard for him to play twice a week now. Perhaps Howson instead?
Looks like it could be exactly this.     I hope its not another 4-2-2-2 attempt though - Howson out left would be a waste of his potential - fingers crossed its 4231

I do wonder if the old cliches are rolled out just for effect. NA's comment that Wes was doing alright but was taken off to change things, could just be football talk for "I didn't rate his performance today". It would be bold to change things but if Murphy is fit he could just be pushing for inclusion.

I have no idea how Charlton approach their matches away from home but 4 draws seems to suggest a solid performance but I notice they have managed to score in each game and conversely concede.

We are reasonably free scorers but by our own accounts have also missed a sackful most games. So tonight would be a nice time for everything to come together up front.

No startling fixtures among the rest and I would imagine the status quo will remain tonight but Watford could gain a march on the others.

It seems that Charlton like to pack the middle of the park and play 5 in midfield so space could well be at a premium. They certainly seem to have the capacity to break well. I think an early goal would be really useful tonight as it might draw them out a bit more. They would undoubtedly be happy with a 0-0 so shifting their game plan early on would be a big boost for us.

I think they'll pack it in defensively. Hoping for a 1-0 win off a corner.

A la Birmingham, we simply cannot afford to concede the first goal at home. Charlton are clearly a step up the footballing ladder from Brum, and if we do go a goal down I think we might well get beaten tonight. Need to come out of the blocks flying!

We should be confident, we are top of the league, and I very much doubt they have played anyone as good as Norwich City.

They haven't, on paper, and they've also not won any away games as yet this season. However, I very much doubt they are worse than Birmingham, who went 2-0 up against us a couple of weeks ago. If we get the first goal, we'll win. If we don't, our luck will run out sooner or later. Just sayin'.

In theory any team can beat any other team in this division. I put Birmingham down to "one of those days" frankly, and if we were to play them again, right now, I'm confident we'd beat them. I don't think its anything to do with luck, we have a lot of goals in us, and thats never a bad thing.

I would like to hope that Adams has impressed on the team how important starting well is, especially at home.

I don't think for a minute that Adams wouldn't emphasise the importance of a strong start. First five minutes against both Birmingham and Bournemouth we were all over them, but then fizzled out a bit. Interesting to see how the first quarter of the match pans out tonight...

It would also be interesting how those games would have panned out had we scored during those times of dominance. I agree with an earlier point. An early goal is crucial. We need to turn dominance into goals.

I wanted some change for tonight, but when I said that, I didn't mean I wanted a Right Back starting at Centre Back.

It will be Martin at centre back and Whittaker at right back I suspect?

Will we ever see Cuellar in the league?

Strange reverting back to Martin after signing all those centre backs.

A bit of a kick in the whatsits for Hoiveld as well.

So is there a stream for this, and if so does anybody mind sending me a PM?

EDIT: Don't worry, good old Wiziwig!

Not exactly thrilling stuff, could quite easily nod off at this rate! :p

Both sides look comfortable in possession but failing to threaten in attack.

Just as I say that though we up the tempo and are starting to create some decent chances. Nice football.

Games been a bit start-and-stop so far this half, however saying that it's an improvement on many of the previous first half performances... now our Second half just has to stay consistant with the last few games
