How many times have we seen this "promising youngster" schtick, only for them to join a league one club a few seasons later? :p

This is a pretty big deal, both financially and football wise if it comes off. Can play as a striker or a winger so not sure if he is replacing Sainz or Sargent, or both.

I don't think I've known a more exciting transfer window - this fella looks just the real deal. With Darling, Medic, Vlad and Wright we've covered nearly all the bases we needed before pre season. Fantastic recruitment it feels to me though of course we have to see them and how it works out as a team. I've changed completely in how hopeful I am (and I enjoy the close season break). And ... We haven't finished yet!
That Mattson link makes me feel we still want a DM or similar.
Such a lot of young potential to come through in their second season too (Schwartau, Forson, Fisher, Mahovo, even Crnac).

I agree, it could turn out to be one of those seasons where a few players surprise you, and make it great. They got the manager in at a good time, to be involved in the window, and he will hopefully have his full squad for pre season.

I tip Crnac to really come through this season. I'm not even that arsed about losing Sargent and Sainz (assuming we do). I like Sargent but his injury record is patchy and we relied so much on his goals that we go to absolute pieces when he isn't there. And apart from Borja's purple patch, which was admittedly excellent, he really tailed off when we really needed him, and of course there is the spitting thing.

Like you, I'm getting that new season optimism!

Agree too on S and S. I think I want to see some change. Sargent is definitely someone so prone to injury and Borja used to be far too selfish post his spitting ban. We will get good enough money for both. And like you I'm interested in how Crnac develops. I watched his movement and his lay offs last season in three games (when you decide just to analyse one player closely during a match... and is why I rated Wright too) and the lad definitely has something a bit special about him. He is able to turn sharply and he shoots early too. Depends I guess on a consistent run of games. He and Kvistgaarden could be a proper handful in the Championship. The new Drinkell and Biggins? I hope so.

Saw an interesting snippet that we somehow found out about a release clause in Kvistgaarden's contract that other clubs didn't know about, which was 6.9m as opposed to the asking price of 11m.

Nice bit of work, that.

Also very optimistic about this signing. I still hope we keep Sargent though. I mean when did we last sign a front man who turned up and scored plenty of goals in their first season? Sargent has become class at this level and I think we need him whilst Crnac, Kvistgaarden and others start to reach their potential.

I guess, in theory, if we offloaded Sainz for 15, then we could keep Sargent. Which limits Crnac to starts when Sargent is injured. I think Crnac will step up to the plate this season, and I can see us playing a fluid front line of Crnac, Kvistgaarden and Jurasek. But yeah, depth wise it still leaves us a bit light in the out and out striker department. I am viewing Kvist as somewhere between a winger and a striker.

The Danish holding midfielder was left out of the squad for his team's pre season match today, looks like it could be a goer

Sargent deal reportedly close. Either Burnley or Wolfsburg.
